Me and my sister went to the Philadelphia Zoo yesterday, and I captured this:

It's one of two female hippos poking her head out of the water.

Great shots of the squirrels.

This is Rainbow Falls, Whiteshell Provincial Park. When the water's not running too fast, like late summer. People jump off the top or go over on an inner tube.

Beautiful and sublte shot of raindrops.

Those falls look fabulous. Inner tubing there would really be fun!

The squirrels are terrific! I also really like the rain shot, gypsy.

Here is a small herd of Roosevelt elk at Redwood National Park - they were resting in the aptly named "Elk Meadow".

These photos just make me gasp!
This little fellow followed me for quite a distance around the lake in Newent, Glos. Great feet!

An American oak tree, apparently rare in Australia.

It is quite old, and covers a very large area.

Here is a view dear to my heart, Golders Green train and bus station where I took the 102 home from school from 1969-76. It also has one of the best cafe and sandwich bars around if anyone knows the Bar Linda.

Ah, yes I know that depot well! When my boyfriend and I take the coach from central London to his house in Nottinghamshire, we usually have to stop at the Golders Green depot.

In October 2007, when I was in London for two weeks, he and I took several coach trips that stopped at the Golders Green depot. One coach had a two hour layover there, and my sweetie and I had a bite to eat at Bar Linda. I can assure you that he does not think the food is of good quality, as he vomited about an hour after we ate there...unfortunately, it happened on the coach, but thankfully he made it to the loo in time.

Ah, so there is something American that grows in Australia, eh Greg.

Nice photo!

Yeah, our crocodiles only eat American tourists- they have not figured out how to eat American trees yet.

The squirrel photos are superb! Ren, I love your little Newent friend, and the elk look very much at home

I'm hoping this spider web will show to full advantage, as it really is a work of art. This photo was taken last night, and as of a few minutes ago the web is still there on my back deck(despite a downpour this afternoon), complete with spider still working on perfecting it.

Argus, Rainbow Falls looks just like a place I'd like to be now. I'm so tired of this heat.

Last night I was trying to get some evening shots over water when I chanced upon the lightning. I was so tickled that I tried for almost an hour to get another. This is my one and only lightning bolt.

MG, that's what happens when an American girl hangs out with an Englishman.

Here's another picture from the Philadelphia Zoo:

It's a picture of a young African crocodile. The information plaque said he was about 5-years old.

ClaraSue, well done you! I was surrounded by lightning in all directions last night and tried for ages to get a shot, but invariably found myself at the wrong window and at the wrong time, or was just not quick enough. I would have been tickled pink too, it's a great image!

ClaraSue, great shot of the lightening. I wanted a pic too, but the storm was too intense and the lightening was almost overhead, so I chickened out.

Here is some Spanish moss:

An unusual apartment block in London's former docklands, now a very exclusive area.

I'm not much of a big city person, but that apartment building looks like an intriguing place to live, Picqero.

Great lightning shot, ClaraSue!

Yesterday we took a picnic to this local man-made lake and park. Nice to sit by the water in the shade.
