I never thought I'd ever use this picture. It was taken last year on my birthday. Maynooth's gift to me was a helicopter ride over Perth. It rained for a short time and this photo was taken during our flight while it was raining. I don't know if it will show up very well, but the rain is making an interesting pattern as it is blown across the curved surface.

I photographed these well behaved Japanese children in Tokyo, a few years ago.
99% of adults use umbrellas when it rains, unlike here in UK where we generally 'prefer' to get wet.

Rain? you gotta be joking!

This is the stuff that killed my car just before Christmas last year. They were the largest hailstones I have seen, and even now, there are a lot of houses in my suburb that are still covered with tarpaulins because of shattered tiles.



I was not game to go out and try to move the car- the hail was about the size of tennis balls!

Ouch we had that a few years back, golf ball size anyway. I kept some hail stones in the freezer for years then one day they disappeared. My mate had put them in his bourbon!

- ozzz, That 'car-killer' hail is a real menace! Seriously, it can do a lot of damage and it hurts if you've ever been caught out in the open with it raining down on your head. Voice of experience on that one.

It was raining so hard in some areas that you couldn't see a foot in front of you. The rain slowed down some so I could take this.

I love to watch the rain, and it's turned into one of my favorite threads! I love the action in your shot, lily, and the colors in yours, picqero! And I concur in all of the other compliments - some really neat photos.



I was so excited on Monday when I read this theme, because just this past weekend we had a summer shower that inspired me to pull out the camera. This was one of my favorites, but I think I will post another in the daily thread. :-)

Ohhh... that's quite lovely. You can almost hear the pitter patter.

We had a doozy of a thunder/lightning storm this afternoon. It broke the oppressive heat wave we've had all week. I wanted to take pics of the lightning, but I was way too chicken to stay out on the porch. The wind was gusting and blowing the oak trees like they were saplings. We lost power for over three hours.

While on a tour of New Zealand we cruised through Milford Sound. It rained most of the way and gave us wonderful photos.

Argus, that is a mysterious and beautiful photo.

I love the droplet on the leaf, and the foggy mountains. Great lot of photos again this week.

We've had so much rain I could take photos for this thread just about every day. This one is typical, taken from my front porch just over a week ago.

I took this just after 11pm right outside my workplace. It's tough to discern the exact raindrops at that time of day, but rain is rain and I will take it! The light is from some overhead lights that turn on at dark.
