Hey folks, my wife, baby Kira, and I are headed for a 3 week vacation throughout the UK by car, starting in London, heading to Dorset / Somerset, Bath, Cotswalds, Ludlow, up to Wales (Conwy / Bangor), Lake District (Keswick), up to Scotland (highland games & loch ness), then back south to Scarborough, direct to London. We arrive the last week of August.

We'll be in London Sept 14th / 15th in the Mayfair area.

If anyone wants to get together for a lunch or something anywhere along our route or in London, or would be interested in seeing some sights in London with us on the 14th/15th, please let us know. We'd love to meet some UK FunTrivia folk.

Terry

Would love to meet you around Ludlow - so many great places for a good pub lunch. Just let us know!

I am going up to Yorkshire later this month - my parents had a shop in Scarborough for years and I have relatives in area who I will be visiting. You should try to make time to call in at Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby en route, if possible.

Some pretty good fish and chips in Scarborough.....

Would love to meet up if it coincides.

Terry, I will be in England from 10th (afternoon) until 15th September (early morning) and staying in Sheffield which is about 90 miles south of Scarborough - except that I will have no transport. According to Google maps the journey ought to take about 2 hours and 10 minutes by road.

I will be staying with my daughter, her husband and their baby who was born on Christmas day.

If it's Cheltenham I might even pop along for an hour or so as well, it's only a 20 minute drive from my little town in Oxfordshire.

I've got the week off of work then - London would be good if anyone else is going, or I could make it down to the Cotswolds.

Hey Terry - London Sept 14th / 15th in Mayfair. Just so happens that I now work in Bond Street (which is about a 5-10 min walk) away from Mayfair. (In fact, the head office is in Mayfair). Could meet up with you all for lunch if you want on the 15th (Monday), as I don't usually travel up to the West End at weekends because I hate the underground system.

Let us know (PM if you want my mobile number)

We're having a great time planning out our trip

Sue -- We pass through Sheffield on our way to London on the 12th or 13th, so we should certainly get together for lunch or afternoon tea.

Cotswalds -- We are staying at Chipping Camden in the Cotswalds, Aug 27-28. How about dinner or something? If anyone wants to tour or anything with us in the area let me know

London -- Lunch on the 15th would be fun. I'm sure we could get a bunch of people in the area?

That would be brilliant Terry - my grandson is just a few weeks younger than Kira (born 25th December) so perhaps she might even like a date with a gorgeous blond English boy!

We must make plans and I will be giving you my contact details whilst I am in Sheffield.

Terry, I should be back from my trip on 25th, so 27-28th would be great - Chipping Campden is defintely do-able. Oh, and the Noel Arms did a *great* meal last time I ate there....

OK no problems Terry - been there today for the farmers market - lots of great grub.
We can get down to Chippy if all else fails - know the Noel Arms well - it's very ancient and atmospheric.

Seems "we" are now looking for accommodation in chippy, so sounds as if you may be stuck with us for dinner(formal with silver service not necessary) first drinks on me.

Sounds fun! I'm not sure what we're doing yet in the area, but I hear it's a lovely part of the country.

Baby Kira will be along with us, so you'll get to meet her

Well we're in Bath right now. Had a good flight and spent a day down near Bournemouth, and checked out the ruins at Corfe.

Stonehenge tomorrow, and then we head on north.

Beautiful country... I just love the hedges and tidy cottages all over the place.

I've got to say though, your roads are way too thin. Some of these appear to have been designed for motorcycles, not cars!

Are you sure your not driving on the footpaths Terry? We find the roads to be just the right size. Corfe Castle is a wonderful sight, especially if it's shrouded in an early morning mist. Very evocative.
If you get the chance, try and do Bourton-on-the-Water on Monday. It's a holiday for us and they play football (soccer) in the river that runs through the middle of the village.

I think it's the combination of driving-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-road plus winding "B" roads plus oncoming-trucks-traveling-way-too-fast that make them appear small

Football in a river... how odd! We'll have to see if that fits in with the plans.

I LOVE being in a country that respects pies once again. Coming from Australia, I was astonished at the lack of meat pies in the U.S. Nice to see you Brits enjoy a good steak & mushroom or shepherds pie!
