That's half the fun of it. Anyway, if you come from Australia you should be used to driving on the right side (that's the left side) of the road
By the way, we play a game over here, it's called 'spot the tourist'. Roundabouts are usually the give away.

You may like to try this if you have time. It may help prevent you falling foul of the Gestapo, sorry, traffic wardens.

Terry, I will email you with my contact details for whilst I am in the UK - don't use my normal email address as I can't get into that one when I am in the uk.

Hi Terry,

Am glad you're enjoying your trip to England and the meat pies!

If you're passing by Leeds at all, you are more than welcome to call for a refreshment break or meet for coffee.

If you are using the A1, I know that it's rather busy at the moment, with the Leeds Music festival, so you may need to check before your journey north.

I hope that you have a fabulous stay in England.

Warm regards

Jan

I can remember going on a school trip to Stonehenge, it wasn't so far from where I lived, about forty miles.

Back then we were allowed to touch the stones and sit on them. The graffiti was there then, masses of it and that was back in the late fifties or early sixties.

Unfortunately rmg's link didn't work for me, but I found his quiz here - http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/World/UK-Motoring-Rules-for-Visitors-259508.html
I think I might need to re-read certain sections of the Highway Code, perhaps once every 36 years isn't quite enough!

If there's any chance you get to see the Cotswold Wildlife Park, it's well worth it. I've rarely seen such a well managed park.

Our kids loved it.

I'll second that.

If you are in Burford the best place for a bite to eat is Huffkins - either eat in, or take away - pies, pasties cakes, or more substantial meals in the cafe. We go there every time we're in the area. Fortunately it's about two hundred miles away, or I'd be even fatter!

Well it's only 6 miles away from me, and like most locals I very rarely go there unless I'm working.
I agree about the wildlife park, it's a great day out and if you get there at the right time you can watch either the penguins or the lions being fed, not one to the other though
Sorry about the bad link, I took it from the edit page by mistake.

Burford itself is well worth a visit (if you can find a parking space) and then on to Stow in the Wold via Upper and Lower Slaughter - they epitomise all that "is" the Cotswolds. Like Bob lived a stones throw from the wildlife park and never went. The village of Ford and The Plough make a good stop for lunch - if you are lucky, you will see the horses on the Jackdaw's castle training grounds of Jonjo O'Neill.

Well we went up to Glastonbury today and saw the old Abbey and hiked up the Tor. Was a nice little trip.

Starting to see the efficiency of roundabouts. My first impression was that you were all stark raving mad having zillions of roundabouts all over the place, but they do seem to allow for efficient car flow. Your cyclists, on the other hand, are insane and oblivious... I'm not sure which one more.

Anyway, we head up to Chipping Campden in the Cotswalds tomorrow. When do you Cotswald folks want to meet up for a dinner? Tomorrow night? Or Wednesday night?

So Chippy or Cheltenham was the venue? Anyone know of a good place to meet there, and a suggested time?'

We're available whenever in Chippy over the next 3 days. If anyone has time off and wants to see some stuff let me know!

Ouch! I'm a cyclist (and a motorist). A good one I hope but 'insane and oblivious' could still apply to other aspects of me

Perhaps they are tourists then... but I swear we have had an inordinate number of cyclists swerve into the middle of the road pretending that they're cars. Amazing that we haven't pancaked a few yet

The only way to turn right at road junctions is to do that ...with a suitable hand signal and a look behind of course. I have a handlebar mirror to see the state of the traffic behind me. It doesn't stop motorists carving me up but at least I know they're going to do it

If you get near the area where the Hampshire/Surrey/Berkshire borders all converge, drop by and I'll lend you a bike for a ride. There are some good 'off-road' tracks around here.

When we toured the UK with the kids, I said I would not even get into the car unless we had a code word to pull over and ask for directions or cool down. This is because roundabouts are the thing that totally confound people who are pretty good at driving at the opposite side of the road.

However, the good thing about the British variety is that they sometimes have lanes painted on the roadway which is better. The worst roundabout is on the Champs Elysee in Paris.

The one thing I noticed about changing sides of the roadway for right hand drivers is that it's when you're tired, or just got off a plane and you take the wheel that things happen.

Have you seen the Cotswold wildlife park by any chance? We found it one of the best we'd ever seen because it was very family friendly.

Terry, I can do Chippy Wednesday afternoon around 3-4pm. After that I need to think about work on Thursday. If you're around town about that time perhaps we could meet for coffee?

Hey romeo,

Sherry + Steve & us are getting together tonight at the Crown & Trumpet pub in Chipping Camden, 5 PM? Are you able to make that? Anyone else in the area want to drop by for a FTer gathering?

If that is too late, what are your plans on Thursday?

Its the Crown and Trumpet in Broadway, Terry, lol! If you are in Chippy around 3.00, we could meet you in the Badger Tea Rooms for a cuppa RMG (where we are staying) best cakes in the Cotswolds !

lol ok, Broadway, 5PM. We're going to do a bunch of walks today in the area. Baby gets to ride on my back! She is hilarious... she laughs her head off whenever she sees sheep, dogs, or cats.

You should have seen/heard my grandson when he saw the orangutans swinging along the ropes at Durrell.
