I just heard a bulletin to that effect on the local news (there have been strange reports swirling around about his condition for weeks, so I won't link to any of those until something reliable to say develops). Apparently, though, he passed away after a severe bout of pneumonia ... and had been dealing with sarcoidosis for a long time, too, which complicated things. He was only 50. RIP.

I really wasn't familiar with his work, Gats...but I know you'll agree it's always sad when another accomplished joker fades away.
May he find peace.

I really liked this guy and he was good in the "Ocean's Eleven" trilogy. He came from nothing and still remained a humble and grateful man, despite all his 'flash' on the outside. RIP, Bernie

Terribly young and in the prime of his life at only 50 years old; It's been said that he'd been suffering from pneumonia recently and finally succumbed this morning. He had also been afflicted with sarcoidosis in the past but reports say that was unrelated to his recent illness.

I agree with JD, despite his success he remembered where he came from and didn't let fame change him. He was an extremely funny man, taken far too soon.

I didn't know he died. Oh my God, that is so sad. May he rest in peace. This is so shocking and sad to hear about this. Hopefully, he is not suffering anymore and is in peace.
