And it's a real treat for us to see your red booth, too, Lillyalli. We've never enjoyed such distinguished and well loved phone apparatus over here. Thanks.

That's for sure, kstew - I can't remember the last time I even SAW a telephone booth. And my mailbox is a sad, boring square metal thing, so I won't be showing a picture of it here. Looking forward to some with character!!

I suggested this theme in Nov. 2007, and had forgotten all about it I saw these colourful post and telephone boxes in Alderney, Channel Islands, during a sailing trip only 6 weeks ago.

This is a phone booth at the Dave and Buster's at Stonebriar Mall in Frisco. There are two of them there.

Quote: So Picqero did you visit Miss Sue while you were in the Channel Islands?
I'm afraid we didn't get to Sue's island, Jersey, which is south of Alderney. We were on a tight schedule, and after Alderney headed for the Britanny coast of France, then back to England. Maybe next time

A phone booth and post box together. These might have been seen standing next to each other years ago. The scene is reproduced at the Milestones Museum, Basingstoke, Hampshire:

It's nice to see the old phone booths. I don't think I've seen one in our part of the country in years. Now they're all those ones on a post like you see in a mall. Can't run to that to get out of the rain.

Quote: I suspect most of the pictures this week will be from the Brits - our phone booths and mailboxes are NOT photogenic!
That would be a pity as 'being photogenic' is not a requirement; just how things are in your part of the world There's an interesting article on U.S. telephone booths here
The thing I like most about these mail boxes is that they're just around the corner from my house. There are two because one is for local mail and the other for "all other destinations".
