Well well- I've been on Friends Reunited 8 years and (besides a funeral invitation) have never got a single mail which wasn't a reply to mine.

Today I got two on the same day! I really don't believe such things are chance as they have happened to me and many people I know for years and once is coincidence, a hundred times and more can not be.

We're off for a weeks holiday tomorrow just to see my family, some friends and to finish Christmas shopping.

Haven't seen Mum since she started her chemo so will be good to give her a hug. She is doing really well and has actually been given the all clear with the cancer but still has to finish the chemo. Only has one treatment to go (which is tomorrow) and is hoping to start feeling normal by Feb.

I have three shifts at work next week! Big step up from one 3 hour shift on a Sunday.

Also, I get to go dancing tonight. It's the little things that make me happy at the moment.

Flaming mice are early this winter. Evidence is in my kitchen so I need to take action now, not a good time for me to have to put control methods into action.

What a greedy little critter, either that or there is more than one and they are holding a party! I put a bait tray on my worktop where I had spotted the evidence of a visitor, one on the floor as last year one was down there, one in in outside covered passageway, then for good measure I put one in a cupboard under my sink as in the past I have found evidence there.

Yesterday morning I checked everywhere and nothing appeared to have been eaten. This morning when I checked them the one under the sink was empty, I then opened the cupboard next to that one as it is easy for the mice to get from one to the other only to find that it had chewed the box containing more bait and had eaten half of that packet too.

Perhaps they are hungry and you should give up baiting them and just feed them.

I don't know how they get into my house, they just do.

I'm surprised, shocked actually, that I have no little field mice residing with me right now. It is currently 4 degrees (Fahrenheit) with a windchill of -20. That is definitely a 'Low' temp of the day and it is also our 'High' for the day! I have some small gift and Christmas dinner shopping I have got to get done, but this kind of cold and 30MPH winds is just too much on my body to go out in. I hope it is a little warmer tomorrow because I'll have no choice but to go - with only my eyes showing. Oh to have the money to hire a personal shopper/assistant! Maybe Santa will bring me one - that I never have to pay?

Sue, I wish I could lend you my cat. We live opposite a field and other people, in the area, have had mice but none get past my cat. He doesn't let a gecko or anything in the house. He has a bit of a reputation though because the other cats in the neighbourhood scatter when they see him coming. Only trouble is, if I sent him to you, he would find his way home because that's how he came to live with us. He originally belonged to a neighbour, who moved away, but after two weeks he came back and he came to our door all battered and bleeding. We don't know from where or for how long he travelled but he had made his choice and he has been with us for 10 years and still catching mice, gecko's and roaches. He has given up on the birds though (Probably because I run out frantically warning the birds when he is about to pounce lol)

I must say from his photo he looks quite a strong willed character!

My cats used to bring in the livestock and let them go! I found a live rabbit behind my bookcase once and they often brought in mice.

I had mouse problems occasionally in Oklahoma as I lived near a field. The mice would make their way in, and my mom kept a trap near where they seemed to be. She baited the traps with peanut butter, and we always seemed to catch them either the next day or the day after that.
