My cousin lost his 21 year old in a house fire late last night. It's a very sad day.

Thank you all of you so much. Doug, my cousin is still trying to come to terms with it all. Both Daniel and his girlfriend were killed. Both 21 years old. It was a tragic trailer fire.

Having a house fire is bad enough in itself, but when two young people die in it the tragedy is far, far, worse. It must be appalling for your cousin and the families involved, and probably something which will live them for many years.
My deepest condolences.

Thank you all so much for your condolences. My mom was talking to my aunt today. It seems Daniel made it out only to realize his girlfriend hadn't. He went back in for her but couldn't get to her...he collapsed outside after going back in twice...paramedics did all they could, but he had burns to 90% of his body and died in hospital a few hours later. It is so tragic. So tragic. It's a very difficult thing for his immediate family to process and deal with. He lived in Alberta, which is a good distance from here. I didn't know him well, but he was a great guy.

Thanks again all for your thoughts and prayers on their behalf.

It is so sad, about your cousin Bally
Update on Mum - she's doing well She had a cancer scare ten years ago (when she got her first DVT/Blood Clot) so she has had some scans to make sure it is nothing connected to it. She does has two blood clots, she'll be on Warfaran for six months. But she is able to have the blood tests etc at our local Doctors instead of the hospital.

Bally I was so sorry to hear the news about your cousins loss.My condolences to you and your family.

I would like to take this minute and thank all of the FT posters who posted lovely messages to me in regards to my Mother's passing.

I am grateful to you all for helping me through a tough time.

It's good to be back at FT after being away for almost a month.

I was having serious withdrawl pains.

It will take me a few days to read all the posts I have missed.

I'm not a frequent poster here, but I would like to extend my condolences to the FT 'family members' who have recently lost loved ones.

I came to post about my day, but I think I'll keep it to myself. There's nothing like reality to remind you that whatever you have might not be as bad as you think.

Take care, all of you. I hope that peace dwells in your hearts and that you find the healing that you need.

Welcome back PF. Condolences to everyone who has lost a loved one recently. I know how traumatic it can be after loosing six this year.

Ecnalubma sometimes just 'talking' about problems - no matter how small - make you feel better.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Thanks for the reply to the card Bonnie, and this thread shows how we all care about each other here, and is for the big and the small, whatever has happened in each life. I sometimes feel my minutiae are pretty minor as well compared to many but think that just reflects the general balance of all our lives at any given moment.

Having said that this week's highs and lows have been so minimal I think the best part was the pleasure I gave two people who used to live near here who asked me to make a video of their areas so they could see it again. They were both so happy with what I made it showed me another side to what we can share online as most of the time we choose what we do and hope others will like it. Not that anyone has ever offered to pay me to do the same though...

Well Dave , would it be worth a try at advertising . offering to make videos for expats, of the area you seem to know and love so well? Where you would advertise this service, I do not know, maybe the weekly Telegraph and other publications that expats like me subscribe to.
