It was out of curiosity that I took my old monitor to pieces to see what was inside. See the various bits here:

tw, I am so glad you took the time to do that! What a tinkerer's paradise and you did a great job on the explanation. You and I have talked, so you know I also love to take apart, repair (when possible ), and am the type that just wants to know how things work. I remember that lovely *test pattern* photo you had put in the Forums way back too. I obviously found it very interesting also!

I tried to get the various parts back together again but of course that is a more precise operation that pulling them apart. I think I could have done it but what with it not being a working item, it didn't seem worth too much effort.

As soon as the assembly is in pieces, it starts to pick up dust, bits of dross and fingerprints. I suppose if anyone has a job of repair, or at least replacing backlights, they'd have to be a great deal more careful than I was.

Fascinating stuff. Now I wonder if Lynda will find any of the bits useful in her crafting!

I've hashed it back together ready for the recycling centre before Lynda could think of anything. Now that is 'crafty' .

"Motherbored" Hah!
