bhs - That's a beautiful quilt, I love the colors. Your handiwork?

tredici - That is a breathtaking shot!

I have lots of good photos of Ivan's destruction in our yard - we were living in NW Florida at the time - but they all have my kids in them! So here instead is a wave crashing onto the black lava beach of the Big Island of Hawaii.

The little town of Greensburg, Kansas was almost totally wiped out when a tornado hit on May 24, 2007. This photo was taken less than a month later when we drove through.

Wow, how scary, ClaraSue. Amazing, the destruction of a tornado. Those poor homeowners.

Massive lava flow on the island of Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands.
I took this shot from the rim of another small volcano.

Trafalgar Falls, Island of Dominica. Actually there are two falls but I couldn't get them both in the shot because of the dense flora.

Flood level markers by the church entrance. Fifteen local residents died in the terrible east coast floods of 1953, when 20% of the town was under water. Due to better warning systems in place, the higher surge in 1978 resulted in only three deaths - and these were wind, not sea related.

The effects of an ice storm, a couple of winters ago, on the bush just outside my front door.

The weight of the ice can be better appreciated by viewing this photo taken later the same day.
