Pretty roses

I've never seen a blue leafed poinsettia; is the colour natural or artificial? Looks very decorative anyway.
Well End brings memories David. For years I led a Scout troop, and did several leader training courses there.

Here's another robin; a painting by wildlife artist David Perkins, always seasonal at this time of year.

Well it's not quite as pretty as your roses, but this rose is blooming in my front yard.

I'm really enjoying all the pictures of snow and ice...

Thanks Nancy and welcome That is our famous British countryside.

This is a nice 1930s art deco building in Harrow, we have many in London but this is quite elaborate.

My garden is a riot of colour at the moment. We have lovely sunny weather, and everything looks so cheerful.Here's a pot by the gate.

This little chap, with his big bushy tail, posed for ages for me this afternoon in a tree in my backyard. He was interested in those seeds still hanging from the tree.

Well, this isn't as beautiful as some of the pics here but it has its charm (I love the beach!) this is Buenos Aires but not very close to where I live, about 4 hours by car, I live in the city center (unfortunately), but I get to go to the beach quite often as my boyfriend has a nice house there, the place is called "Mar Azul" (Blue Sea).

We actually had a frost last night, and there was ice on the puddles from our Christmas rain! Not something we see that often.

I love Ren's flowers! My petunias looked like that until this morning :-(

Thank you for the lovely compliments copago, djsgal, jar ... to focus cleanly on the icicles, if you can choose a focus mode other than autofocus, "spot" is good ... but the trick to throw a background out of focus is really in your aperture if you can adjust it on your camera. The lower the f.stop (the number) the more shallow your depth of field (focus). If your camera is mainly point and shoot you are kind of stuck with the capabilities of the focal length of your lens - you could try a macro mode or know exactly where in the frame your camera takes it's main focus from ...
but mostly, and easiest, is using your aperture to get the effect you want. In this case, i used f5.6 to throw the background out of focus ... hope that helps ...

edit: smaller the number means the larger the aperture is ... it gets kind of confusing that way ... (Tredici - my main camera is a Sony Alpha DSLR).

Santa Saguaro on top on Shaw Butte in Phoenix at sunrise this morning. There's a Palo Verde tree across the trail that always gets decorated at Christmas, but this year, someone dressed up this baby Saguaro also.
