In 1963 the Worboys committee designed new road signs for Britain but luckily London still has more of the old ones left than anywhere else. They are constantly being removed so this week after days of research I've been all over taking the remaining ones I could discover. This is a lovely example in Bounds Green.

Ruins at Old Panama
Picture taken from the restored bell tower. Old Panama (Panama Viejo) was burned and sacked by the pirate Henry Morgan.

Gosh that is beautiful, Cinnamon! I suppose it wasn't too hard to find a perfect one?

Love the penguins, how cute are they?

We went to a Christmas BBQ last night - I didn't even take any photos of people just different things to show on here. Here's one of his roses - he won Best Rose recently at a local show. I dont' know anything about them but this one did look particularly pretty plus the recent heat had started to knock a lot of them around.

Me too- I was born there! (well in the building next to it)

Here is a rare development of modern houses in the grounds of what's left of my college (postgrad one) in Southfields near Putney. They knocked down one block but left others so the site is now shared, very odd.

Al-Mohajerah , that is Japanese sushi. If you use a search engine you will find thousands of recipes. It is eaten all the time , all over the world, for snacks, lunch dinner etc etc.

Thank you ren33, Actually I have know idea about the Japanese sushi, maybe because Japanese foods aren`t welcome around here.

bhs: I will try it, thank you

Love the "cool dog" pic, and the penguins. The little cart is sweet, ren. The snowy Christmas trees look pretty perfect already, and that rose is gorgeous - such a delicate colour!

Here's another wintry view of the river, from earlier this week.

There are some quite colourful paint jobs on houses in this area. This lilac one is nice, but I don't think I'd have gone for a green door

Here is a culvert that is soon to be replaced with a square one becuase ... wait for it ... the fish won't swim through a round one. Who knew that fish were so into geometry? I dont want to even think about how much the government is putting up for this. ANyway! That's my whinge for the day

I have a theory why the fish will not swim through it- there is no water in it! (Or is that a bit TOO obvious for the government boffins?)

And also, why is it necessary that fish swim through it anyway? A change of scenery, perhaps?

It flows from the Darling River into a lake (eventually) and yeah, only flows once in a blue moon.

There was an 'old' song..."Behind the Green Door." Except for that, the owner must surely be color blind!

I like rarity, but not with good things. As far as I know this is the only pre 1963 warning sign in Greater London now, although the sign itself is brand new as it replaced the usual small one. The style is the same as the old one it replaced but the pole with the triangle is original. It's on Belmont Hill in Cheam if anyone feels like having a look.
