My fiancée dubbed me that after a trip she took to Florida. She was reading the “Sword of Truth” series by Terry Goodkind in which the central character is “you guessed it”
A War Wizard.

She was leaving Birmingham driving to Orlando a 6-8 hour drive under normal circumstances. However as soon as she left it started to rain. Birmingham had gone 5 weeks without measurable precipitation; She drove in a storm that “followed” her from Birmingham to the Florida state line. She called home after 10 hours behind the wheel accusing me of summoning storms, and her horrible trip was my entire fault because I was a War Wizard.

But then again she says everything is always all my fault anyhow.

I use the name Bullymom (it's also my e-mail address) because I'm the mother of a bulldog, Snoopy.

Hi, either you write pretty well for a mama bulldog or you should go into the Guiness book of world records!

Sorry, just a joke.

I was wondering about your name! Many people are named for their pets here.

My screen-name comes from my love of the Fall season in Colorado. That wonderfull time before winter when the crisp fall air carries the scent of burning fireplaces and home cooking. That time when the leaves on the ground rustle as you walk through them or as the wind sweeps past. Ah what a great time of year!!!

Yes! And what a great handle! You still dealing with the snow?

I wish I had something nearly as interesting to tell. But nooooooo, there's no inspiration here!

Basically I just got tired of being called the Grumpy Old Man!

LOL

Thanks for all the other fascinating explanations.

Mine's? Well...

'Aballin' is a fantastic creature from 'Dungeon&Dragons'
Go to a research site like Google and search the word 'aballin' and you'll see.

I love the words 'shadow', 'darkness', or any word like that. I thought of 'aballin.of.darkness' at first, but I finally came with aballinshadow.

Someone likes it?

Most people have seen this before. My name is a musical term. It is a type of ornamentation similar to a trill. I play the flute. That's it.

How many of us learned another person's gender that we didn't already know in this thread?
I did!

Templar, monastic order? You really wanted to leave the world and live in a monastery? Or wouldn't you rather go on a pilgrimage? Ah well, some days I have to admit, an orderly life in some nice monastery in the countryside with a few chickens and a vegetable garden, a little manuscript illumination in the afternoon to keep the old mind working, a few chants, "Victime pascale laudis" and the day's done, just get up the next morning at 4 and start over, right?

But then, the idea of those cold showers repels me! and those nettle shirts!
And no pictures up on my walls!
I would make a lousy Sister Mary Bruyere!

I once changed my screenname to Lady of the Heath and everyone screamed! I got irked at not having a title!

Yes lovey, no lovey, you get the idea.

Mine is a pet name my fiance gve me. I collect cows, and my kitchen has become a showplace for the herd. I haven't counted lately, but I know I must have close to 500. He started calling me babymoo one day, and the name stuck. My neices all call me Aunt Moo.

My name is a nickname that I've been called from time to time during my half century on this planet! I also have blue eyes which stand out quite a bit because I don't have much in the way of eyebrows - a hereditary trait - ask lefois, my twin! I was formerly known around here as jubjub before the new improved FT - had to change my name. Some of the transitional posts from the old to the new have my name there as Simpson! It's interesting to read how people chose their screen names. Keep 'em coming!

Hey all, this is a great topic, I love learning more about everyone!

Contrary to popular belief, I took my screen name from the "Clue" game, rather than from Scarlet O'Hara in "Gone with the Wind." I always liked that board game . . .

Cheers,
Scarlet

p.s. The extra "t" comes from when Funtrivia got a facelift. I lost my old name, like many others did.

It's been awhile since I have explained my call-sign......

I am a big comic book fan....and I used to read a comic called 'New Mutants' (This Marvel comic has ceased to exist due to the characters growing up and reforming into other teams). Anyway, back to the subject.....there was a character called Cypher. He wasn't the strongest person on the team as his power was to decipher any language or code. Not much help in a battle but neverless crucial. This character's life ended when he sacrificed himself to save another team-mate. This was a character I identified with the most out of that team.

I changed the C to a S to be more unique !! This name was created way before 'The Matrix' where most people think it came from...( Cipher)

Syph - that story is a major bless.

My name was amberg which came from my cat's name Amber and the first letter of my name George (short of Georgina). When the forums changed I lost that name so I combined my Quizzyland name Mioaw with amberg and became miaowamberg.

Nowhere near as exciting or lovely as everyone elses stories, but to me it makes sense!

This is a way cool thread!!! I always wondered how some of you had come up with your names.

Well Moonchild is the name of a song by Shakespeares Sister and it is my favourite song on their album Hormonally Yours

Although now I like to think it has more to do with the fact that I like looking at the moon before I go to sleep, it's restful.

Well, I found the phrase 'pia fraus' from one of my favourite books. It means 'holy deceit' in Latin. I found it quite interesting and so I decided to use it as my screen-name.
