My story is pretty simple. My real name is Carol, but I hate it so I add the extra "le", or sometimes I go by Carola or Carole.

Mine's pretty simple ... I usually end up playing Santa Claus at Christmas --- my e-mail address is even registered under Santa Claus --- when I went to register here Santa Claus was rejected as having been used, so I chose Sandiclaws which is a play on words with Santa Claus (and sounds like it too when you say it).

I spotted mine while doing a search one night ---I liked it the minute I saw it, and knew immediately that I had found my screen name (Merrywinkle) --- had to add the 1 to it when registering my e-mail address as plain merrywinkle was already taken.

Besides, I think Merrywinkle is a good choice for a name for one of Santa's elves ... don't you agree?

I was up to my mischievious self last Christmas ---being one of Santa Claus' elves, and delivering messages to the staff (8 people in total) at my daughter's school for Santa (This was around the 1st of December --- the messages were interim 'report cards' as to whether they were on the naughty or nice list, being delivered, at Santa's request, far enough ahead that those on the naughty list could "fix" their naughty ways).
I saw the name on a website, which believe it or not was about elfschool ...I adopted the name to use with my messages, and liked it so much that it also became my screen name.

Sounded like a real "elfish" name to me --- a good name for one of Santa's elves.

Mine aren't all that interesting. I came up with tcmom because my kids names start with t and c. My quizzyland name is Ms.Lady. I came up with that one because sometimes at work we'll refer to certain customers or each other as Ms. Lady. (Ms. Lady over there wants another glass of wine.)

Well now there surely must be some mistake as the sexiest man alive has to be either Hugh Jackman or Benicio Del Toro!

Good to see you are still with us MDG!

Well I guess I'll add mine.

Molly Grue is a character from the book and movie "The Last Unicorn" Molly spends her life looking for unicorns. The 24 is my son's birthday. I was surprised to find that I was not the only MollyGrue on the net, I've since learned that the other is a Pagan named Jessica, go figure. (By the way the pic next to all my posts IS Molly Grue)

Some of you may have been here for my identity crisis where I became BillSPrestonESQ. I jusst got tired of Molly at that time and though I'd change but it was too confusing for everyone. Anyway I chose that name because when my brother was younger he was my idol and he looked and acted just like Bill from "Bill and Ted's excellent Aventure".

I am also known as EeyoreSoSweet on a few sites, I got this because I love Eeyore, and whenever I mention his name my mom sings this stupid song that starts with "You're so sweet..." but she makes you're sound like Eeyore.

I really don't like to talk about myself do I?

(In case anyone was wondering the picture beside my posts is Molly Grue, it is a still from "The Last Unicorn")

I am glad someone brought up this thread. It's been fascinating reading the stories behind some of the names I've come to know and, as Bruyere mentioned, figuring out some people's gender.

Mother Goose was one of my nicknames at school. It was based on my surname at that time. I absolutely hated it when I was in primary and high schools but learned to live with it by the time I got to university. Now I have grown accustomed to it, perhaps even grown fond of it.

I think I started to accept it when I discovered that my uni friends spent an entire day in the city, searching every card shop they could find until they found a 21st birthday card for me which said 'Hang Loose Mother Goose'. Then I realised it was a term of endearment and not just an obnoxious nickname.

It's the only name I use at Funtrivia. I'm too old to remember more than one (early Alzheimer's) - LOL!

Hmm. I came up with shishkakat after discovering that shishkabob was taken. I just love the way that word rolls of your tongue! So, I compensated with shiskakat, since I adore cats. Shishkacat would have looked relatively strange, so I stuck in a k there for extra originality, too!

On another message board my name is RhythmicBlues, from the classic Don Mclean song American Pie. I decided to try something different upon entering this site, so shishkakat it was!

As I'm now Quizcall (or Fosse or John) The Quizcall name comes from my e-mail address which was chosen to be an easy name for my quiz league captains to remember (a long while before joining Funtrivia)

I thought I'd already posted something about this, but it was in a previous thread started by Georgeprice that closed in May.

When my last employers decided to have an intranet, some local webmasters set up chatrooms on their sites (these chatrooms were very soon closed down by the board).

I used to look into our chatroom now and again and used all sorts of names. One day someone posted a message "I wonder how many people are tabbing to and fro between this chatroom and their work". Tabbing to and fro was just what I was doing, my name's Tom and I've always felt a great affinity with cats. So I decided to be Tabby Tom.

Since I get asked a lot where my screen name comes from, here goes: I suscribed to Hotmail a few years back and was deadlocked as I couldn't find a name that wasn't allready taken. After trying all the nicknames I was ever given, I grabbed the first book on the shelf: Egyptian Mythology and started typing in all the godesses I found, hoping one would be free. The one was Meshkenet, a second-order goddess of justice. From then on, it's been my screen name everywhere I go since no one else seems to use it or even know about it.
(For the record, I would have preferred Sokaris, but it was allready taken)
Edited for typos 'cause my fingers didn't follow my brain...

I decided to bring this thread up for the benefit of our newer members who may have been wondering about some of us regulars!

Perhaps a few of our newer members can add to this thread?

I use the same name in both because I would never be able to remember two! As it is, I always try to use my password from here to get into my email account. (It never works)

I wondered where you got that! My mom had a degree from the University of Georgia, home of the Georgia Bulldogs. "Woofi" simply comes from the name of one of my dogs, Wolfgang, who is a 6 year old German Shepherd. Included in my fur-producing menagerie is his sister Hildegard, 3 y.o. Maximillian (also German Shepherd), and last, but not least, Misty, the 3 y.o. Great Dane. No, this was not the plan, it just happened that way and I am a softy for animals :-) (Puppy treat, anyone?)

Thanks for bringing this thread up - it is interesting for us newcomers and somehow makes everyone seem more 'real'. Though I must say I already feel like I know some of the regulars - their personalities come through fairly strongly in their posts!!
As for my name...'wa' is the Japanese prefix for 'Japanese' - and with that meaning is the first syllable in the name of my business.. 'jo' are my initials.
