This is one of my most favorite things to know too. I often wonder as I read "how did they decide on that name?". It's an extension of who we are or wish we could be. I haven't had a chance to go thru all of these names yet. . .my MAC is a bit old and slow, but I will make the journey a little at a time to see how inventive and imaginative you all are.
I'm a very serene person, and enjoy not stirring up the ant hill. Actually, in reality, I DO enjoy stirring up the ant hill, but only if they are the stinging, biting kind!! Serenity is usually taken, so I use variations in the spelling for different places I visit. I also like Serendipity

Like you said, it's best to keep to the forums ID the same and your quizzyland's. Though, this will be a journey to solve more hidden things about FunTrivia.
It's "The Lord Of The 713s: The Fellowship Of 713". I like The Lords Of The Rings, but I like to say a little joke at times.

I have to admit that my screen name is somewhat silly. My full name is Mike Pacheco and Mohummed Ali's personal fight doctor turned boxing analyst is named Ferdie Pacheco. This name stuck with me all through high school and then in college, he was a celebrity that was in the fraternity I pledged (Sig Ep). I thought I finally escaped it when I moved to Tampa, but Ferdie (Ferd) Pacheco was born and raised in Ybor City which is south of Tampa. I have so many friends that call me Ferd, it is almost a second name. Where does "Superferd" come from. Your guess is as good as mine. I do not remember why I did that except that maybe Ferd was taken and I just punched something in. Mike

My screen name confuses those who know me now. Back (way back) in high school we read "The Great Gatsby" and another student got passionate about the book with me. Thus became Gatsby and Daisy, circa 1975! She wore flippety floppety hats and I got all dressed up for school every day with a tie and a starched shirt. It was a great deal of fun, and the 'Gatsby' stuck.

I'd already told in the newbie threads that "Dixie" is for locale--the Heart of Dixie, Alabama, and that the 6256 is the birthday. I had made a list of over 40 screen names that I was interested in having when I arrived online, and not one of them was available. I hung Dixie6256 on myself as an interim name, planning to find the ONE later on.
But then I got to know people, and they responded to me as Dix, even playing with it to call me 509 from the Roman numerals. I can't imagine being anything but Dixie now. Sometimes I'll hang around incognito with AstralTourist or Bee Keeney (say it fast), and I do research under Eromakasi (the name of an eater of darkness from an Alan Dean Foster novel).

Hi there. Meraai is a name my family (and NOBODY else) called me when I was a kid. But in Cape Town where I live now, it is a traditional name for a female from the Bo-Kaap. Not very interesting, but very endearing to me!

My screen name is a double mistake in fact.
First of all someone else was using my computer when I was very 'net illiterate, and had used the name Santana. I didn't know how to change it so I kept it, and kinda 'grew' into it.
The second error is that people assume it refers to the *musician*, but in fact in Belgium Santana is a chain of flooring specialists.......
However, I'm stuck with it now, as everyone knows me this way.
The other common error made is the assumption that my nick means I'm male...

Satguru = 'true teacher' in Sanskrit. This is a reference to the teachings of advaita, meaning 'not two' (also Sanskrit) ie no me and everything else, but all is one. The satguru is the true guru which is only reflected by other gurus, and it is actually you, as you alone hold the wisdom, outer teachers only point you towards it.
This was one of the main points of Ramana Maharshi, who always stressed the best teacher to become enlightened wasn't an outer guru but the satguru.

Well the Cally part is just a general nickname for my first name which is Caroline and the bub part is short for one of my true life nicknames Bubbles which came about after a rather silly dare involving a pint of Guinness and a bar of soap!

3 months later this thread re-appeared without the hyphen, and almost 2 years later, I spotted a glitch, which was today cleared up by pointing out to me that there is a parallel one on exactly the same topic. So Fosse, you were either pre-sensing a double post , or there's at least a 3rd screen name thread somewhere as well. At least I will now reunite the two for a while by adding this.
