Oddly enough, yes!
Alexander McCall Smith's "The Good Husband of Zebra Drive" and "Blue Shoes and Happiness" from the No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series. That's such a charming series -- makes me want to visit Botswana.
Tony Hillerman's "Listening Woman". I thought I had read all of Hillerman's books but apparently not. My daughter snooped in my bookcase and didn't see it so she bought it for me -- how sweet!
"Hash House Harriers -- On You!" -- I used to run with a Harrier group and was thinking about getting back into it. It's a lot of fun as long as you aren't easily offended.
My sister sent me Eric Clapton and Pattie Boyd's autobiographies. I've already read them -- they both agree that Eric had issues.

I haven't read Colin Dexter yet, but he's on the list. You can't go wrong with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle -- wonderful books -- "The Sign of Four" is one of my favorites.

I never get books for Christmas - historically, I either never need any OR have "wish lists" that folks usually find "weird" and impossible. But I got one this year ... unexpected, and interesting, and one I'd never even heard of before (perfect! - so I can't wait to dive into it). It's called "Picturing Men: A Century of Male Relationships in Everyday American Photography" by John Ibson. It's not especially heady/artsy (or murky?) as the title might suggest. It's pretty much a photographic study of the sometimes static (and often stoic) relationships that exist between men. Like brothers, co-workers, fathers/sons, mates. The photos themselves are fascinating - going back to the 1800s.

I got a sweet looking small book entitled "A Dog Named Christmas" and a bookstore gift card. None of my favorite authors have anything new on the shelf right now so I'll be tucking that in my pocket for a bit later.

I got a book called "Deafening".. I can't recall the author's name right now, but it's really good so far! It's about a young deaf girl who falls in love, and then her boyfriend goes off to Europe to be a stretcher bearer in the war (WWI)

I got (and I am so excited I can hardly type it out lol) a SIGNED Robert A Heinlein first edition! AND I got one of the numbered, doubled signed by editor and illustrator, editions of Moonbase Alpha too.... oooooo am snoopy dancing just thinking about them My signed 1st isn't here yet though, we decided to ask the seller to wait to post it so it wouldn't get caught up in the Christmas post as it's coming from overseas, but it should be here next week and I can hardly wait. I will read it once then put it away very very carefully out of reach of the babies sticky fingers!

Yes. I got 2 books off my uncle and a gift voucher for a book shop from my dad.
The books I got from my uncle were: Le Ba, by Irene Nemirovsky and A good woman by Danielle Steel. I haven't read them yet I'm currently reading some other stuff to do with the work I want to do.
The book I got with the gift voucher was People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks

Just two: Mrs Beaton's Puddings and sweets and The Secret Shopper's Revenge which is really funny and oh so apt. Only light fiction, but thoughtful extra in my Christmas stocking.
