Hmm. A more cynical person than I might say it was fixed. Kris is good. But Adam is Adam. Then again, there are a lot of people who dislike Adam (crazy fools). And I'm sure Kris got the Gokey-followers vote. Ah well. Adam is still my number one.

And thank god Adam never has to sing that godawful No Boundaries again. He probably asked to lose, to save himself from that.

And now we have to listen to this song again. Argh.

Adam is going to be a superstar, so this may be better for him, as it was for Daughtry. (trying to stay positive here)

I totally do think it is better for him. He's a superstar, but he's not the neat little pop star package that American Idol likes.

I have to go to work now, but I've loved watching the finale with you guys

I'll be first in line to buy Adam's CD and see him in concert.

(It's probably not the right time to say this, but ...) I'm OK with Kris winning. Adam will do what he started out trying to do: get his big talented foot in the door. He's a star. No turning back now. Aside from that, though ~ thanks to Kris, I finally got a prediction right over on Entertainment Weekly earlier today .

They both won big, however, in my opinion.

While I agree, I have to say I'm very disappointed. You are right that Adam will probably do okay afterward, but he was clearly better and he worked very hard to try and win. I think he deserved it more - he was the one people were tuning in to watch, not Kris. Adam consistently tinkered with his arrangements and not only sang but performed his songs. And no one has a better voice.

I don't think that the second runner up necessarily always does well afterward - Bo Bice looked to be on his way to fame and fortune, but we didn't hear much from him after the show (something that really disappointed me). Where is Justin Guarini or Catherine McPhee? It does worry me, since I'd like to see a lot more of Adam in the future.

So I'm a little depressed. Off to eat carbohydrates ....

For that matter though, most of the winner haven't done THAT well afterwards. Adam's an actual star, not just the second-best of a mediocre crowd like, say, Justin Guarini, was.

Sigh. Okay, I agree that it really doesn't matter who wins in the end, but Heck! I wanted Adam to bask in the glory! Kris didn't even believe he won, and thought Adam deserved it, how's that for a winning attitude?

My intentions are not meant to be mean-spirited or controversial, but wasn't it obvious how American Idol went out of their way to creatively edit Adam's fans? Hey, it was great to show the kids from the theatre troupe, but also very, very safe. Would not Adam have a huge, flamboyant theatre following -- i.e. other artists & performers, drag queens, and the gay community as a whole? There was none of that, just very safe shots of high school kids and children. What's my point anyway? To me it looks like AI presented a very conservative Adam to save their butts! Well, they got themselves a fantastically conservative winner in Kris! Yahoo!

Seriously, I wish both Kris and Adam much success, I love 'em both! But I think Adam will outsell Kris hands down. Funny how that works sometimes.

Peace out everyone. It was great chatting with y'all!

I've struggled all afternoon NOT to read this thread so I am still clueless as to what has happened so here is my late recap to stuff you all already know. LOL

Didn't mind the the "So What" song strangely enough.

haha loved Norman Gentle. I hope he has picked up some sort of comedy theatrical work.

Lil and Latifa .. oh dear .. what were they wearing?? and sinnging!?!

missed most of the Alexis/Anoop song becuase my bloody husband doesn't understand just what "shhhh" means.

Kris and Keith .. loved it!

Big Girls Don't Cry .. thought it was okay except for Megan.
Black eyed peas. I'm still trying to understand it let alone like it. Just becuase you got it doens't mean you have to flaunt it. God, I'm getting old and cranky.
Listening to this makes me just want to read who won and saves myself the rest of the night.

But, of course, I won't.

Bikini girl .. pretty much sums up what I think is wrong with the world. Sheesh.
kara .. hahaha .. that was funny. If BG knew that was going to happen then she is a good actress! ( I wish I knew what the rest of you were saying about that but I can't look until the end! LOL) I didn't think Kara was half bad.

Alison and Cindi Lauper .. well that was great. Must have been hard to sing that song with the original sitting right there. I hope Alison does well post-Idol.

oh man, Mrs Allen ... where was your mirror when you got dressed tonight??
I like Adam's mum .. she seems cool.

Danny .. and Lionel Ritchie. I liked this too! Lionel is looking good, isn't he?? Danny, stop, please, stop the dancing! LOL

Adam ... haha! and Kiss. Perfect. LOL didn't see that coming .. was sort of thinking it was going to be Bowie. You just can't compare Adam to Kris, i don't think .. Kris is a singer and a good one but Adam is a performer through and through.
Is anyone reading this? LOL

Santanna... meh. Matt .. double meh. Matt's hat .. triple meh. Rest of the song and the people were okay.

awww I miss Michael .. don't miss Megan though. Steve Matin, huh? Who knew? I did quite like that song though .. which is the folky part of me coming out.

oooohhhh we'll find out after the break ... it's tense in the Copago lounge room right now ..

oh man .. If you want my Body??? just tell me already!

oh wait .. Rod Stewart .. okay I can wait. Do we think Rod has a bit of Dutch courage in him?

Is it just me or is Janice Dickinson the queen of the dogs?

ahhhhrgggg Tatianna?!?! I remember why I hate her even though she claims she is a damn good vocalist .. often.

We are the Champions. Nice. Too much smoke!! I think Adam could take over as lead singer for Queen

and the winner is ....

what?? More ads?? Sheesh

and the winner is .....

(100 million votes?? Wowzers.)

you are effing kidding???? what the .... ?

oh man, Kris is cute and all that but there is no way in the world that he is anywhere near Adam.
At least he was gracious about it.

At least Adam is going to be huge no matter waht .. Kris probably needed to win to have a bigger future.

How disappointing.

NOw off to read what you all think.

For me...and I think most of you feel the same...it was the best finale show ever, with the worst ending ever!!

(My Idol-hating boyfriend actually sat through the entire show with me, and that says a lot!)

I'd heard a rumor that Kiss would perform and after Kris performed with Keith Urban, I said to the BF, "I'll bet Adam will sing with Kiss!" Still, I wasn't sure if the rumors were true, and when I heard those first few notes of "Beth" start up, I got so excited I punched my BF right in the ribs!

It was also exciting to see Adam sing with Queen. I've been saying all season that while no one could ever replace Freddie Mercury, Adam certainly has the range to be an awesome front-man for Queen. (Better than Paul Rogers, anyway...love Bad Company and The Firm, but Paul Rogers does not have a Freddie Mercury voice!)

Shocked as the rest of you are at the final outcome. Had been drinking champagne all evening, as always, and it just went flat after that! I do agree that Kris probably needed an actual win to boost his career, while Adam will do just fine (and maybe better) without it. But he so deserved to be crowned "best of the season", and it seemed a bit like a slap in the face from America when he wasn't handed it on a silver platter. To me, it shows how close-minded people can be, even in the face of so-called creative-types, who are supposed to be a bit kooky, aren't they?

Guess there's no doubt where that Gokey vote went now...

The final moments usually feel huge and uplifting, but after such an amazing show, last night felt a bit flat and rushed. Kris is the winner ~ OK, sing that awful song again real quick ~ and we're done. There was no excitement in those final moments for me at all, and I didn't sense any excitement there either.

I wish them both well, and have nothing against Kris, but this morning I'm feeling a bit gipped. Or is it jipped? (My spell checker doesn't recognize either.) OK, so I feel totally ripped off...there, my spell checker knows that one!

That's exactly how I felt, Starfish - like it was a huge let-down. Not just for me, but for everyone in the live audience. I could almost feel them giving a collective 'huh???' as the confetti started to drop - and Kris was thinking the same thing. It was all over his face - it really took him a few minutes to realize he'd actually won. He's a class act, though (as is Adam who very quickly stepped aside to give Kris the stage). But I can't help thinking that it would have been a spectacular moment if they had read Adam's name instead.

The show itself was quite entertaining, with all the iconic stars and "surprises" like Steve Martin (didn't he recently win a Grammy for his banjo album?). And for once I was watching it live, so I was forced to watch Gokey try to dance with Lionel Ritchie. Ugh. I would have preferred David Bowie to Kiss, but I loved Adam's costume during that section and his voice on Beth. He could certainly front a band like Queen, but - just like Chris Daughtry turned down Fuel's offer to front them - I think Adam is capable of going his own way and being very successful.

I did think that America was ready to vote for a more theatrical performer and am very disappointed that they swung toward the conservative. I hope I'm wrong for Kris' sake, but I think his album might go the way of Taylor Hicks'. I don't think the people who voted for Kris are likely to be big purchasers of CDs. And I think Adam's fans (like me ) are going to purchase his. So this may work in his favor after all.

I just downloaded both studio versions of No Boundaries and I must say they are far better than the live versions. Having said that, Adam's is head and shoulders above Kris'. *sigh*

In other news, I read that Gene Simmons has said that Adam is welcome to sing with them on tour anytime he is free. I can't remember where in the heck I saw it (I was going to reference it) but dang it, I know I saw it! if anyone finds that article, please post a link to it here.

Oh my ! All these reports differ SO much. I read this earlier on mjsbigblog - a usually reliable source:

Quote:

Gene Simmons of Kiss doesn’t think Adam Lambert is a rock god. Answering a question on his website, Simmons–KISS duetted with Adam on the finale–said, “Respectfully, I don’t think Adam is a rock singer. He sounds much more convincing singing ballads, and Broadway shows. His voice doesn’t seem to have a ‘rock quality.’ But, I’m sure he’s going to do just fine.”

I'm feeling pretty sure not what to believe as the days go ...

So "bikini girl" (whose name no-one will remember) shows herself to be as ugly on the inside as she thinks she is on the outside. What a cliche!
