Tony Hart, the man who inspired millions of British children to paint and draw has passed away at the age of 83. His family say he died peacefully. Growing up during the early years of television i have very fond memories of programmes like Vision On and Take Hart. I cannot think of a single instance of anyone having a bad word to say about this very talented and gentle man.
Rest in peace Tony.

He came to a shopping centre near us, several years ago, and we took my 3 year old daughter, who was a big fan of his (even though she was convinced his name was actually Take, not Tony, from the name of his programme 'Take Hart') to see him as he demonstrated his drawing skills, then auctioned off his drawings to the crowd in aid of a local hospice association. He was incrediby talented, and a very nice, self effacing man.

I remember him well. His show 'Take Hart' was on South African T.V in the eighties. I grew up with his show and the little clay dude, Morph. I remember Morph got his own show later on and there were all these other little clay people. I've always loved art and his show made it even more enjoyable.

Rest in peace Tony!

I loved all his programmes, and only just heard although he was 83 when he died he had a stroke a long time ago that stopped him drawing, which was a real tragedy. I also used to read his comic strips he did for various places in the 60s. He worked to the full before his stroke though and I also just saw he had a gallery fairly near me and I could have gone in any time and seen his artwork and maybe him as well. If it's still there I will now.

Marvellous man and a true hero to my generation, the first real TV legend for the 30 somethings to pass away....very sad.

Cheers Mr Hart

I remember "Take Hart" and "Morph" from my childhood. A exceptionally talented artist, and such a shame he had a stroke that made him unable to draw/paint. I believe he designed the "Blue Peter" ship too
He seemed a nice person and another part of my childhood has gone
Rest in peace Mr Hart
