Learning the ropes...

Hi! My name is Helen and I live in Derbyshire England. It is one of the most beautiful counties with lovely walking areas.
We moved here from Birmingham when we retired.

My husband is American and we spend time in Indiana with his relatives and in North Carolina at the family holiday home near Ashville.

I enjoy Funtrivia and have recently started writing my own quizzes - mainly about dogs.

I know nothing about modern music (mind you British 60s is another matter), Stephen King books, US quarters and many other esoteric subjects.

I always do the Global Challenge and hope to get to 9 before it closes.

Despite being retired I don't seem to find enough time in each day to actually get any housework done - does that resonate with anyone out there? javascript:void(0)

Hi Helen and welcome to the FT forums! Always great to have new people join us.

I know there is a saying along the lines of "Once you've retired you'll wonder how you ever found the time to work"

Hello and welcome, Helen. Don't bother asking any females on here what housework is - we've all forgotten.

Hi Helen and welcome - I have a plaque on my wall that reads "Only dull women have immaculate houses" - need I say more?

Hello Helen! Welcome from the Other Side of the World.

A friend's Mum gave me a plaque to hang inside - "Come sit down, relax, converse.
My house doesn't always look like this - sometimes it's even worse!"

Welcome Helen, you chose a good day to register as it's my birthday, and I also love 60s music. Now you've found FT you'll have even less time for the other jobs

Helen, welcome from a snowy Oxfordshire. I love many parts of Derbyshire, we used to have school trips to the Manifold valley when I was growing up in Leicestershire.
