I realize it is strange for you to have that much snow in the UK, but truthfully, I am tired of looking at the huge piles outside my windows. I'm still 'basking' in all the warmer photos and right now, in my mind anyway, I am smelling those oranges in ren's photo!

I wanted to check out an old saying yesterday. It was 45*c and yes, it was hot enough to cook an egg.

Presumably now Jack and Conor are thinking that the heat has gone to your head with you cooking eggs on Conor's slide!

And now for something completely different -- this is creosote bush in bloom with a bee buzzing in at the top of the photo. This is the bush that gives the desert its special fragrance.

I am always on the lookout for funny little alleys and hidden places here. Here's one, with the light stealing in and showing that , no matter where in Hong Kong's concrete jungle you are, some greenery is always trying to break out!

For a change of pace, this is a gift I spent part of today making for my Mum, who celebrates her 90th birthday tomorrow - flip cards to help her remember the day of the week , not always easy at that age.

Getting away from the heat and snow... A picture of the infamous Robben Island taken from the top of Signal Hill.

The snow has gone - but it's now wet, wet, wet!

As it happens so rarely here's another scene from yesterday, Ham Lands next to the river in Richmond. It's melting today which is good as I have to drive some way later on.

Be careful out there Satguru. All the melting Lilyalli pointed out can have driving dangers, too.

Despite fantastic cloud formations, we've seen very little in the way of white flaky precipitation lately.

What a fantastic cloud formation - and I agree, be very careful driving, especially after a 'melt', which will probably freeze during the night, creating even worse driving conditions.
I'm always amazed how birds don't suffer cold feet, especially like these black headed gulls resting on a snowy roof.
They're in winter plumage; the black heads only appearing during summer.

I think You have been photographing my roof picqero! That's just how they looked yesterday, but I don't have a powerful enough zoom to take a shot. (gunshot would do - they do mess up my windows! )

Not many of these in existence and certainly not in pristine condition I suspect.

This is a boulder with petroglyphs on it. It was located on our company property out in the desert, and some guy stole it. Someone turned him in, and rather than return the boulder, he decided to destroy the evidence -- thus the bullet holes and cracks. Moron. Anyhow, it's now in our storage yard while we arrange for a safer location for it.

That's amazing PDAZ .. excuse my ignorance, it would be an Indian tribe artifact? Destroy a huge rock with bullet holes? That was intelligent ...

Another picture of Aysgarth Falls in flood. It's, normally, a quiet river, but when we visited the area it was just after a period of very heavy rain.



For those Brits of a certain age, there used to be an 'advert' on TV extolling the virtues of our history and countryside. Aysgarth was one of those places mentioned.

Yeah I figured it would have but it's also where my son plays Don't see many of the old bum buner slippery dips around anymore, huh? That one came from a park that was being upgraded and it cost us all of a carton of beer (and a few headaches to get home). Bargain!
