Partridge was my other guess, I'm not am expert, but the closer ones had shiny golden brown feathers. I used to know more but don't often go to the country nowadays. I'll see if I can find it in my little book.

I'd say 'partridge' too David, as they're common in this area. Grouse are really a mountain and open moorland bird, rarely seen on farmland.
.... and here's the 'missing deer', or more correctly 'hart' from your earlier posted image (previous page).
It stands at the top of Hertford's WWI war memorial, erected in 1921, and sculpted by Alfred Drury

Lovely job picqero, if anyone had one you would. I was looking at the general scene at the time rather than specifics and the tower reminded me of the similar one in Golders Green which is also a war memorial. I only saw I'd beheaded an animal when I uploaded it...

Here is a nice church garden in Enfield.

I too loved seeing all the kitten and puppy photos. Said many "awwws" over the last few days

We've had a few days of really mild, spring-like weather and today it turned into rain and fog. This was taken from the front seat of a friend's car as she gave me a ride home this afternoon.

I gather that we're going to get a bit more winter weather before long...

I could have posted this image in this week's theme, but had already posted one before taking this photo. A lot of roads, and houses, buildings too, have been flooded this week, due to a combination of heavy rain and snow melt. This road was impassable the day before I took the photo, though one unfortunate motorist tried and had to abandon their car.
The large railway viaduct in the background was built by the Victorians, and carries a major north-south rail route.

Every few weeks they change out the flowers in the lobby of the building I work in. Leaving each day I would see the afternoon light hitting these beautiful orchids. Finally remembered to bring my camera.

It snowed today.

This is the main railway line heading for Sunderland from Hartlepool.

Your image brings pleasant memories; I spent many hours flying over these plains, the Pampas, which are actually quite beautiful with much bird life. Some power lines were over 1,000 kilometres in length, and being the highest objects on the pampas, were commonly used by birds for nesting and vantage points.

Had the kangaroo sticking his tongue out - now it's a snake's turn.
And let's all say "hooray" for zoom!

Yes! they are beautiful and have a calming effect for me, unfortunately, there and in many other regions of the Argentine countryside we are going through one of the worst draught periods in decades
Since you spent some time here you must have tried mate, hope you enjoyed mine!

This a bit of a random shot taken from the steps at Crews Hill station but I liked the result.

A roadside stall at Colaba. These kind of chappals are called Kolhapuris. Quite popular for casual wear.

Copago, so glad to see you posting. From the news pix Australia looked under siege by flame. Quite scary. I hope you were far from harm's way.

LOL, your kitty looks so relaxed.

The pond I saw yesterday was so calm the geese looked almost like decoys.

They do look like decoys!

Here's another cat. This is Circe, my very long Bengal.

I was heading in to town and seen this seagull, he just stood and waited for me to take his picture.

I've been traveling. Here is the shot of Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport at dawn yesterday.

NancyfromBA -- spent 2 1/2 weeks in wonderful Buenos Aires. Saw those same pampas and lots of cows on the way to and from Mar Azul (spent a week there), lovely beach.

Looks like he's only got one leg - or is it an optical illusion

Seagulls often stand on one leg. I thought I'd try it one day but got tired.
