Not sure where to put this as we don't have a Forum for radio. Legendary broadcaster Paul Harvey passed a short time ago. He was 90 and was in broadcasting for 70 years. I will remember his common sense and humor and will miss hearing him daily.

...and now we know "the rest of the story."

RIP Paul. You will be missed.

Oh no! I hadn't heard this until reading it here. He really had a great voice and manner, I will miss hearing him. I wonder if his son will carry the torch now.

Paul Harvey was definitely one of radio's greatest commentators. It will be sad not to hear his voice telling those wonderful stories. Goodbye Mr. Harvey!

It's almost impossible to think about Paul Harvey being gone. I've listened to his folksy, common sense delivery and odd news stories for half a century. He was an institution in our family and I can't think of anybody who could fill his spot in the same way.
May he rest in peace.

My mother had a certain "thing" that set her off when it came to noise, especially when said noises came out of TVs, record players or radios. But I remember so well, every day he aired, her announcement that: "Shhh. Everybody be quiet! Paul Harvey's on." He was an important part of many days, for a v-e-r-y long time.

Rest in peace, Mr. Harvey.

I hadn't heard a thing about this. He will be missed along with his unique sense of right and humor. Gats your story brought to mind the same thing with my father.

Goodbye and rest well, Mr. Harvey.

I hadn't heard until reading this! Gats, your story is exactly the way it was in my house. There wasn't a day that we missed his news stories. I found his website last year and found that you could listen to the past week's stories. He will be missed by so many.

I didn't always agree with what he had to say, but I did enjoy listening to his broadcasts for a very long time. He always had an opinion and always had the courage to put it out there in a very straightforward way. For that I admired him very much. RIP Mr. Paul Harvey, the airwaves will never be the same without you.

Here's a clip of his I found recently that some of you might enjoy. I did.

And another that may be of interest to history buffs, and elicit a bit of a chuckle.
