Still no action. Emi was on inducing drugs for 6 hours. She was having contractions every 90 seconds. After they stopped the drugs the contractions went to 5 minutes. He's still quite high in the birth canal so it may be several hours yet. This is worse than when Stuart himself was born.

The poor love.

Ren, if you go, take dynamite and a crowbar! I wouldn't expect tea though.

OK, this is now worse than when I gave birth myself, at least I was happily bombed out of my brains then. I do hope everything is OK Bob, and am thinking of you and yours.

Still no news and I've got to go to work in around an hour or so.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the good news just hasn't reached England yet and your poor daughter-in-law is not still trying to give birth, RMG.

I bet Bob has finished the booze to calm his nerves.

I doubt Bob is drunk while at work. I just hope that his son will get in touch with him one way or the other. I am beginning to get upset because he (son) is being a somewhat typical male in not considering that updates are essential, even if the big event has not occured. At least tell Bob and his wife something - and us, of course!

Latest news is that Emi has dilated to around 6 cm and the doctors think it should arrive within the next 18 hours or so. I hope so for Emi's sake.Either way I don't think I'm going to get much sleep tonight.

That is an awfully long time, Bob. I have to wonder why they aren't just going ahead with a C-section? Three days is too much on mom and can cause too much distress for the baby. I trust the doctors know what they are doing though.

It does sound like a C-section is in order. You mentioned in your first post the doctors thought this may be a possibility. In any case, I wish Emi all the best - this has not been an easy delivery for her. I'm sure Stuart has been a great moral support for her in this difficult time. Hang in there Bob, we are all pulling for you.

My goodness! I hope all goes well for her; the poor thing must be exhausted! I'm sure everybody else is too.

Oh poor Emi!

My first was 18 from start to finish and I know that I was exhausted.

My goodness! I was going to post earlier to wish everyone luck and be of good cheer for a new kiddo. But this is waaaayy long. I don't know how anyone can stand being in labor that long. My one and only was 8 hours start to finish. I simply can't imagine -- oh the pain of it all!

He's here. He finally showed his little face at 10.30am UK time. Mother and baby both well. No more details yet but I'll post them as soon as his dad calms down.
