Well I will say that I had one of the best Christmas dinners ever. I still hold the memory!

Chucking a turkey in the oven and steaming a few carrots and sprouts isn't exactly cooking. You are just too easy to please.

We will of course be popping to the tearoom around the corner to raid the cream cakes, I won't get a big one this time as I am really having to be more careful with my sugar and fat consumption.

If you do tell any secrets all future invitations for you to stay here in Jersey are withdrawn!

This thread is supposed to be for planning her trip not spreading alarm nor rumours.

So far we have...

Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust (zoo)
The Marilyn Monroe exhibition - the largest collection of MM memorabilia in the world - also the Jersey Museum, same place
Big Vern's - Sara's favourite eating place here
St Malo in France
Hector's Fish and chip shop
Mont Orgueil Castle
Elizabeth Castle

A carnation nursery might be good as those are her favourite flowers, we can have something to eat there too.

A couple of days we will be 'tin shaking' in town for Shopmobility. Since we will be just around the corner that means more fish and chips!

Poplars Tearooms is a must for cream cakes.

Fish and chips from the chippy IS a delicacy! Especially with the fish as fresh as it will be where you are Sue.
My "view" of the Channel Islands is formed only from books, so I have a "girls boarding school during the War" and a "major earthquake squishes Guernsey and splits Alderney in two" picture in my head.
Can I pitch a small tent in your garden one day Sue please? and get a true pic?
Oo there's a thought - would I need a passport to get from the mainland to the Islands? I know my friend had to have one if she wanted to fly to Belfast, because of the security issues rather than because of the actual "usual passport being needed" issues. She can take the ferry without one.

You need photographic ID virtually everywhere you fly these days, not always a passport but I tend to use mine.

Ren has liked it enough to have been here to stay with me three times, or is it four? I think it is only three, I am totally confused now.

Did you not see Bergerac? Actually John Nettle's daughter still lives here, she has a high powered job in the civil service here.

Oh I can't see you serving Mada ready meals from M&S Sue.

I can! Honestly now, there's absolutely no need for her to fuss over feeding me and I am hoping she won't ask me to cook for her .

Oh, no! Now I will fret for an entire week what's all about. Hope it's not about a band playing at the airport or the mayor handing me the keys of the city . For something like that I will need a different costume than the one I planned on wearing.

Wow! A carnation nursery! Awesome! Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

I love the activity list you put up. The only thing I'd add is Corbiere and the crafting supplies shop.

I never watched Bergerac - I will have to look for it on cable, shows like that are always on there somewhere.

Corbiere is a given as it is just a few minutes round the corner, there is normally an icecream van there so we kill two birds with one stone.

As for crafting shops, that is a given, as is the pound shop and perhaps a boot sale.

Well the Guernsey one was probably caused by our Sue, she is always fiercely loyal to Jersey.
Seriously, Mada you are going to have a ball, as I said, just keep an eye on her in the shopping centre, that poor old boy never knew what hit him. Enjoy every minute!

Ren, how about pming us the secret?

Has anyone noticed that for every activity Sue has planned there is food involved. Now I know why she does not cook at home.

We might be only 45 square miles but we have a LOT of places where we can eat, I found one site saying 170 but in the past I am sure I have seen claims for more than 300.

Saturday is here... Only four days to go. Yippee!

Ladies, I don't care who you share the secret with, as long as it doesn't reach my ears. I love Sue's surprises and I don't want them spoiled .

I am certainly excited, it is great to meet FunTrivia members in person.

In no particular order I have met...

Ren on several occasions
Tellywellies (and his wife) on a couple of occasions
Copago
Sypher
Bloomsby
TabbyTom
Satguru
Terry and family

I can't compete with Ren or the Aussie contingent

Well the Aussie Contingent (the usual suspects) were all at once, so I dont think it adds up to as much as your list, Sue. Lets see.
Purplefan
Joe(Sypher) twice
TW and Mrs TW
Copago
Ozzz
George
Nannanut
Exit
and Sue (three times)
OK then just a couple more

Just stay out of the Hotels in Hong Kong at the moment (and perhaps the 3000 resturants too).

Three days to go!

I have not done anything today other than watch television as it is Craft Day on QVC. Waiting for the postman will be fun this coming week - will I be able to stop Mada getting to my new goodies before me?
