The layout on twitter is nowhere near as good as facebook since the latter revamped its 'wall' the interactive potential of shared activities can be just delightful. As with everything, it's what you make of it. Twitter has of course, the attraction of celebrities but I follow only four of those, and about 60+ nature lovers who generally use twitter to post urls of interesting sites, articles or their latest wildlife observations.
Twitter is more anonymous than facebook, you share far less personal info and 'tweet' in short bursts so you want to make them meaningful and attractive to keep 'followers' (as opposed to 2 way friends as on fb)
