Happy birthday leau!

Also, I'd like to add I am growing to like the idea of the one question submission more and more, and not just because of the badges.

Variety is the spice of life

I agree, I really like this So far the questions I've submitted are for categories I have barely any quizzes written in. This is a good way to branch out into new subject matter

I'm really impressed with the editors too. They must be busy tonight with all of these questions being submitted and they're all getting done really quickly.

Great job!

Yes, I really like this idea! There are many questions I have which are good to submit on their own rather than having to expand it into a full quiz when perhaps the subject material may be a bit thin.

Thanks Terry.

Edited to add: Happy Birthday Leau!!

Hmm.. I don't suppose there's any chance of getting more feedback on rejected questions? One of my submitted questions was rejected, which is fine, but the little "(spam/junk/incomplete)" note next to it doesn't tell me what was wrong with it.. It wasn't spam, seemed complete to me, and I didn't think it was so bad as to be labeled junk. I know it would create more work for the editors to have to expand on their reasons for rejecting questions, but without an explanation, how can I be sure not to make a similar mistake with another question?

We can't give any more reasons, unfortunately, as we only have a few set options to choose from.

And thanks, jonno and doublemm!

Terry, since the rejected questions are gone, does that mean we can "fix" it by completely writing a new question, similar to that of what was rejected?

For instance, one of mine is because of a dates issue. Could I make a new question about the exact same thing, but make it less date specific?

If it follows the rules, sure.

Cool. I was just making sure. I didn't want to make a new question about the same thing if... You know what I mean. ;-) lol.

I also want to point out a spelling error. Doesn't "Submiting" have TWO T's, so it should read "submitting?" When you click next after typing the interesting information and stuff, it says "submiting." I think it should be "submitting."

I am a quite unhappy about why one of my questions was rejected. Here is my question and the rejection reason -

- Who did Andy Murray defeat in the semi-final of the 2008 US Open?
(Plagiarism / information lifted from copyright source)

This question isn't on FunTrivia that i can find and it was taken from my own memory, not from any source. I am a big tennis fan and in particular a fan of my fellow Scot Andy Murray so to accuse me of somehow stealing this question from somewhere is quite annoying. I would appreciate an explanation about this.

Dunno, doesn't make much sense to me. Perhaps the editor clicked the wrong button.

For the (spam/junk/incomplete) reason for rejecting questions, would the reason maybe be more interesting info needed? Would that constitute being 'incomplete'?

Earlier today that text was one of the ONLY "reasons", so all sorts of stuff was getting categorized like that.

I suspect that might be it. A sentence or two ought to be fine for these.

p.s. we're still evolving the editing process here, so give us a couple of day to iron stuff out. I think I'll add a function that will allow players to resubmit rejects, and I've added a ton of reject msgs.

I too had a couple of questions rejected, one due to a time/date issue and one for ambiguity etc, both questions read fine to me lol

I do appreciate that it's very early days, but if the editor could type a quick line being more specific it might help.

Thanks Terry for a brill idea!

Already Triviaballer & Salami_Swami are closing in on their badges, nice going!

I never thought writing quiz questions could become a game in itself very nifty thinking indeed

How about a monthly tournament to go with it lol bound to further increase the amount of questions submitted, though i'm starting to feel for the editors, I bet things have just got a whole lot busier.

I like the idea of growing the database by adding individual questions. Sometimes, it's tough to come up with ten good questions for a quiz. In fact, one of the questions I just submitted was taken from a quiz that I've been struggling with. (That question will not be in the quiz now, of course). But I figure that this is a great way to add to the pool.

The only problem I can find with this is that people are going to submit questions separately in order to rack up points instead of making full quizzes.

It is a cool way to get rid of questions that you have wrote for quizzes you don't have time to finish or any more info on.

Because we have enough wrestling to last us 450 years.

Wrestling has 783 quizzes. Baseball has 2513. How come baseball is allowed and wrestling isn't?

Because 40,000 questions like "who wore a green mask and delivered a reverse uppercut chair-to-the-head SUPER POWER MOVE 15 minutes and twenty seconds into Friday, March 23, 2005's pay-per-view ARMAGEDDON 49 RAW MEGA SMASHATHON match?" don't have any place in a daily or hourly game, not at least in a generic sounding category like "entertainment"?

Good enough reason?

Additionally, many of the Wrestling questions already submitted to the Entertainment queue for single questions have been extremely common and recent. Most, if not all of them, have likely been used in numerous quizzes already.

Furthermore, I expect it'll be Nightmare editing the Baseball questions as well, and I have a feeling he has a pretty good grasp of what's already on the site in terms of that topic.
