Hi,

I have a trivia question for you ===>

"In a standard game of shogi, the number of first moves that a player can choose from."

I have never played the game & have a guess after reading about it...

But I would like to know the answer from someone who knows....

Anybody out there play it & know the answer?....

Thank you in advance...

How about participating on a regular basis in the forums instead of just coming occasionally when you need something? Twenty-six posts since 2004 isn't exactly regular.

Our members are obliging but it does seem that you are a taker and not a sharer which hardly seems fair.

I've never played shogi, but the first site I looked at gave all the legal moves of all the men. It seems to me to be a simple matter of addition to come up with the answer of the number of possible openers. As to whether all these are good openers is another matter.

I've just sent "researcher" a note informing him of the "Ask Fun Trivia" page, which may be a more appropriate venue for his occasional questions.

If he is researching answers for prize quizzes then AFT probably isn't the place to ask.

If my math is correct, that is about five posts per year, or once every ten weeks. Besides, I've never even heard of the game. How is it played?

Except it isn't once every ten weeks, certainly a couple of flurries would hint at a Christmas quiz.

I think it is fair to say that he is not a regular contributor.

The once per ten weeks was an average. Seeing the time between two posts...yikes! That's just over 2 1/2 years!

It also looks as if they are for a competitive and possibly prize quiz, those we don't normally permit.

I just think people ought to participate generally, not just hit us when they are stumped then to ignore us again.

I agree. I've only about 6,000 posts, but been in the forums about 5 1/2 years. Although, I do run three tipping comps and participate in plenty others.
