And again, I'll say pass to both.

Cadbury's is different in "hot countries"
I know this because a very nice man from Cadbury's wrote to my nanna and explained it all to her. She always used their chocolate to top her famous choccy cakes, and then it "went different" so she wrote to them to tell them - a proper "I'm 88 years old and have used your chocolate for 60 years" type letter.
It turned out she'd gotten an "export" bar and they put *something* in it to make the melting point higher.

Dave, surprisingly Vegemite was very good, but hubby won't let me use it when he's around. He said it stinks up the kitchen. I won't even tell you what he said about my Marmite (which I also like). I know where I can get some Marmite in the USA but haven't found Vegemite yet. If you're up to trying it, I will get you one.

But if you're like my hubby, you're better off just sticking to peanut butter. Isn't that right, Sara.

I saw a site saying World Market carries it.

To me, Cadbury is the best chocolate. It is what I was raised on, and the milk chocolate tastes just as it should - creamy, chocolately, but not too much of either.

I enjoy other chocolate (except the cheap stuff - blergh) but not as much. When I'm stressed only Cadbury makes it better.

As far as Cadbury chocolate goes I only like the Flake,it`s something I REALLY enjoy eating. If given the choice though between Cadbury and say Nestle I will choose Cadbury every time now that Nestle have changed their formula for the Kit Kat,I hate the new taste.

I must intervene here, as an expert on Vegemite. After all, I've eaten the stuff since I was a baby, and show no signs of giving it up yet!
I was one of the 300,000 who took part in the survey, so I guess I can take some of the blame if people don't like the new product. However, I'd like a little praise when you all find that the new stuff is great!
Apparently, the original recipe Vegemite (sheesh, sounds like KFC, doesn't it?!) has never been on the market in the US, because the Americans couldn't adjust to the bitter yeast taste, and it's only been available from specialty shops and by friends who sent it over. Soooo....guess which market the new Vegemite is aimed firmly at? Yup, as Kraft is now an American-owned company, they want a product that's going to make them some American money! And if Australians take to it as well, it will be purely a bonus.

And in case you're wondering how Leau and I get on when she hates Vegemite and I love it, it's easy. We have an arrangement - she buys it and I eat it!

I'll take that Vegemite avatar now....

In previous vegemite threads I seem to remember you saying, Dalgleish, that you spread it on thick? (the vegemite, I mean, least I be misunderstood again in this thread )
See, I remember the important things about people.

I took part in the survery as well but I said I liked it with honey.

My son took part in the survery and said that he liked it on pizza.

I did read somewhere a person described a "tiger toast" where a bit of toast is buttered and spread with vegemite then strips of cheese and then grilled. I've never been tempted about the vegemite and cheese thing but that does sound good.

What kind of cheese is being added to the vegemite?

Sorry. Some things just can't be forgiven!!
I've alerted the authorities and, boy! Will you have some questions to answer next time you try to enter the country!!

Lol, I'll just have to bribe them with some REAL chocolate then, won't I?

And there I was, trying so hard not to be negative about Cadbury AND Vegemite at the same time. You're right though...

It's only thickly spread when I make him breakfast and forget Vegemite's not peanut paste.

It`s cream cheese ClaraSue . Of course it`s not the first time Vegemite and cheese have been commercially available,Kraft did market cheese slices with Vegemite mixed in a couple of years ago. I`m not sure if that`s still available.

Sue, I'm surprised. You didn't change them both to the marmite? Don't change mine!

'Fraid I can't comment on the Vegemite/Marmite debate, having only tasted the Vegemite and finding it very similar to Bovril. I hate Bovril. We used to get it diluted in boiling water in a thermos flask to have at lunchtime in school, and just the odour is enough to put anybody off lunch altogether.

I do, however, feel qualified to comment on the Cadbury debate

I was brought up on Cadbury, and I love it just the way it is!!! (or should I say 'was'?). Not sickly-sweet like Kinder or other 'foreign' chocolates, nor yet as bland as cheap easter eggs, it's just right - creamy and chocolatey without any bitterness.

I have come to love Cote d'Or too for it's rich chocolate flavour just enough without getting to the bitterness of dark chocolate (can anybody see that I don't like dark chocolate? ).

I lived for over six years in Belgium, and have yet to come around to liking the Belgian chocolates, truffles and other delights. 'fraid they just are too rich for my taste. (sorry, and 'real' chocolate-lovers out there ).

Give me good ole Cadbury's glass-and-a-half-of full-cream-dairy-milk-chocolate anyday!

I should intervene here as I am able to buy the Cadbury's chocolate that is produced in Australia and also that from UK and believe me there is a massive difference. I am afraid the Ozzie version doesn't come anywhere near that of the UK for taste or texture.

I tasted the new Vegemite tonight.
I can see how it might take off, as it doesn't have the 'bitter' taste that people either love or hate. It somewhat resembles Nutella when it's spread.
I don't think it will be a huge hit with current Vegemite eaters, but it might open the door for a new generation.
And I've submitted my suggestion for the name of the new product. I'm not telling you what it is, unless I win the comp!

This confuses me a little. Is your definition of cream cheese the same as the American cream cheese, because I've never seen it packaged in slices. I did try my vegemite with the cream cheese and really liked it. As a matter of fact, that's what I've been having for breakfast lately.

I`m not sure what type of cheese was used or perhaps is still being used in the Vegemite and cheese slices ClaraSue . I suspect it might be normal Kraft cheddar but I`m not sure.

Edited to add after a quick search.........
Quote:

Vegemite and cheese

During the 1990s, Kraft released a product in Australia known as Vegemite Singles. It combined two of Kraft's major products into one. The product consisted of Kraft Singles with Vegemite added, thus creating Vegemite-flavoured cheese. This extension of the Vegemite product line was an attempt by Kraft to capitalise on the enormous popularity of Vegemite and cheese sandwiches (made by placing a slice of cheese into a Vegemite sandwich). Vegemite Singles were later taken off the market, possibly due to poor sales.

From here.

We can buy little mini rounds of cheddar with marmite in it, in those little individual portion pack things.

I'm terrified to poke my Beagle nose into this debate, but I thought I'd share my late father's favourite late-night snack with you...
Lightly toast a slice of bread and butter. Lightly spread with Marmite.
Mash sardine (other fish are available), and spread on Marmited toast.
Cover with grated cheese and pop under grill until cheese bubbling.
Enjoy!
