Yes, hell froze over, and The Stig took his helmet off.
Those who are not familiar with Top Gear ignore this post, those who do, be amazed.

Yes, I saw that! And I'm totally disgusted to see who it was alleged to be.
Words too rude to be included on a site used by impressionable people sprang to my mind.
Of course it may all be a bluff and it may not have been him at all...

As an American I only see Top Gear in reruns. Who knows when the episode you talk about will be shown. Any chance you can tell me who The Stig really is?

I have to admit you've piqued my interest. I initially thought your post was possibly related to Joan Jett and her side project honoring Mia Zapata and her band The Gits. Now I'm going to start Googling!

He's still a bit of a 'stigigma'. I don't believe he's who was revealed on the show.

For the curious:

Common sense tells me The Stig must be several people, but they all must be really good. It's no small feat to drive around a racecourse faster than Nigel Mansell, Jenson Button or Lewis Hamilton, even if it is in a Suzuki Liana.

Wow - brilliant video clip
Michael Schumacher as one of the regular Stigs, was clearly a hoax, but the Top Gear presenters are always looking for a good laugh. I'm sure there have been several celebrity guest Stigs, and perhaps Schumacher has been one of them

Anyone who read the Mail on Sunday would have been prepared and took no notice of Michael Schumacher. For the first time I know a Stig (there are four) revealed himself post-retirement and even with three more to identify Michael Schumacher was racing till last season and living on the continent. It was only a hoax for the least initiated viewers, anyone who'd followed the story for a while wouldn't have taken any notice of it and was just a part of the completely irreverent side of the programme. Any regular viewer would have got that immediately as they'd never reveal the real Stig despite one coming clean with very little publicity elsewhere.
