Mr. Jackson has passed away, it seems. Very shocking (he was only 50).

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I listened to the Thriller album constantly. After she was born, when she got fussy that album was sometimes the only thing that would calm her...as though she recognized it from hearing it in the womb.
Rest in Peace, Michael.

Such a strange, strange, but talented man. Prayers go out to his children.

"The Way You Make me Feel" is nothing like "Black and White". You make me feel "Bad" at times, but "I Can't Stop Loving You".
Don't "Beat It".. "Remember the Time" we made "History"!? "Don't Stop till you Get Enough" of the "Man in the Mirror".
I will so miss you Michael!

They are still calling it cardiac arrest, but one of his "family attorneys" has been quoted as hinting prescription drugs may have been involved.

All deaths are sad, I suppose. Somehow, you just knew that he wouldn't live to be 80.
I think this might be tragic news to people who were born in the 1960s or 1970s who grew up with him.
The first time I saw him on TV might have been around 1970 and I certainly admired his energy and talent, but as someone over ten years older, he really had no impact on my life whatsoever.
I concur with Fredsixties post... I sincerely hope his children are able to live "normal" lives but somehow, I doubt it. Celebrity, whether earned or born, is no advantage these days but rather a curse.

I was shocked when I read and posted that he'd been rushed into hospital, and wondered then if he would recover or not. He was both talented and eccentric, but also a clearly disturbed individual. With so much going for him, it was always sad to read about his unusual behavior, and sadder still to finally learn of his premature death

I have very fond memories of the early Jackson, but I went off him a little when he started getting 'weird' - nevertheless an incredible entertainer. The story of his death is dominating the French TV channels this morning, which only proves his WORLD fame and popularity!

I've been reading some of the worlds media, and already the global impact of his death has far surpassed that of Elvis Presley - some are even saying the impact is on a level with Mother Theresa, and Diana, princess of Wales!

This guy has been part of my life since I was a teen - often in the news, a talented performer, a stalwart supporter of many many charities, a unique, disturbed and probably very lonely individual, for whom I have a lot of sympathy.
His life seems to have consisted of an awful lot of unhappiness, misery, cruelty and hurt. Hearing of his death this morning has been very sobering, but I also feel that perhaps now he can at last be left in some peace.
Like many others I wonder about the future of his children.

This is incredible ......
"The internet suffered a number of slowdowns as people the world over rushed to verify accounts of Michael Jackson's death.
Search giant Google confirmed to the BBC that when the news first broke it feared it was under attack.
Millions of people who Googled the star's name were greeted with an error page rather than a list of results.
It warned users "your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application".
It's true that between approximately 2.40PM Pacific and 3.15PM Pacific, some Google News users experienced difficulty accessing search results for queries related to Michael Jackson and saw the error page," said Google spokesman Gabriel Stricker.
It was around this time that the singer was officially pronounced dead.
Google's trends page showed that searches for Michael Jackson had reached such a volume that in its so called "hotness" gauge the topic was rated "volcanic".

Michael Jackson, one of the greatest entertainers passed away. His death was sudden and shocked the entire world.
While he was alive, he had a lot of turmoil in his life and it seemed as though he was always searching for peace in his life.
I hope Michael has now found the peace that had so eluded him in his life.

My memories are very strong of seeing Michael Jackson and his brothers preform at the now demolished JFK Stadium in South Philadelphia. It was the Victory Tour, and by and by it was amazing!
Michael was an extremely talented person. He was a genius in terms of Entertainment and knowing what his fans would enjoy the most.
Unfortunately, the years of legal trouble, accusations etc., put a severe emotional strain on him.
Only Michael and those truly close to him know if he ever really did those things that was said.
When I think of Michael Jackson, I remember how my mother's boyfriend at the time, got me the Thriller video, and how I watched it over and over and over...gosh those were amazing times!
Michael, I hope you have found your peace and know that beyond anything else your friends, family and fans truly love you and always will.
May the "King of Pop" rest in peace.
