I've gone quite into cooking lately and try to have a proper meal six nights a week. The advantage to living remotely is that I'm not tempted by takeaway food or restaurants!

Tonight we're just about to sit down for roast turkey breast and veges. Feels funny having turkey away from Christmas!

What are you having?

Well it's been so hot here this whole week that the menu has consisted of tomato salad, melon and lots and lots of water. As it rained last night we actually cooked some food - Breton buckwheat pancakes, topped with ham, cheese, egg and butter. It was delish, and a very welcome change

Roast dinners are a winter weekend meal here, though I regularly do a pot roast in the pressure cooker - 30 mins and not much washing up, suits me after a day's work!

Tonight .. you've got me thinking now - not sure what'll be on the table, but as I've just had some great news I may even go for a restaurant meal

Of course the advantage of a proper meal in the evening is that often there's enough leftover to make a decent lunch the following day, adding just bread, pasta or rice to pad things out a bit. I really need to be more organised and cook properly during the week as well as at the weekend!

I was working tonight, and at work I usually have either junk food or sushi. Tonight I had a croissant, some pretzels, and some fruchocs. I'm currently finishing off the pretzels.

Work is making me fat...

I took a wrong turning when driving this afternoon and as the road I was coming out of was narrow and visibility was poor I turned left rather than right across the traffic with the intention of turning right then coming back onto the main road on the correct side. I turned down a lane and then spotted a farm shop so drove in there and went to investigate. I found that they had a brilliant butchery section and saw some gorgeous looking sausages the likes of which I hadn't seen in over twenty years since a particular butcher the market closed.

Tonight I have these pure pork sausages, I bought three but suspect that I might be eating cold sausage tomorrow.

What I wish I was having..........A meat lovers pizza with ham, beef, bacon, extra cheese, pepperoni on a thick base with a hot crispy garlic bread and a cold Crown Lager drunk from a pint glass with a Mango gelato dessert to really freshen up the mouth afterwards.

My favourite pizza shop has moved three times over the past twenty years and fortunately they have never moved too far away. The first place they opened was between my house and a mates unit that I used to visit every Friday night and I used to stop in and jump out of a taxi and pick up a pre-ordered pizza on the way,my mate supplied the beer and we watched the footy and stuffed our faces. The second place they moved to was in a residential area and just happened to be around the corner from where I was living at that time, I used to order a pizza to be delivered and everytime they found out who it was they told me to not be so lazy and walk the 100 metres to pick up my food! Hehe, they always threw in a free garlic bread for me. The third place was a little further away but they did make up for that by giving me free delivery.

I'm having chow fan, with lots of mushrooms! I happened to be walking through a market when it was closing down and they sold me a carrier bag full of mushrooms for a quid - I declined four bags for two quid! So tomorrow it's Beef Wellington and mushroom soup....

Ummm, *munch* *munch* this is DELICIOUS! I haven't had salmon patties in forever. I decided it is about time to enjoy. So, salmon along with a salad and some fruit (watermelon & cantaloupe) for dinner. I is delicious. Jeez, how many people do you know that eat and have to be on Fun Trivia at the same time?

What are "fruchocs"?

Dessicated apricot and peach rolled into a little ball and covered in milk chocolate.

I'm not Copago, but snag is an Aussie term for a sausage

Saturday I had what I had wanted to have on Friday, a spider crab. I had walked through the fish market and saw none then went to my local supermarket who also had none. I asked if they were likely to have some on Saturday and was told probably not. I am assuming it was to do with the weather and the fishermen not going out in the extreme heat. anyway I took a chance yesterday and they did have some, yummy.

Wasn't the ice cream overkill?

Undoubtably! (I won't even *mention* the little strawberry pavlovas to 'use up' the whipped cream and meringue nests...)

Let's see...tonight I shall either be having chicken or a frozen pizza. Depends on how lazy I'm feeling. (With chicken, all I have to do is take it our of the 'fridge and cut it up. Pizza I have to cook.)

We had sausage casserole - boiled potato chunks and chunks of sausages done with tomatoes, mushrooms, peas, and beans in a BIG pan with my own "secret ingredient" sauce (sauce basically consists of whatever I have in the cupboard so tonight was garlic, cayenne, beef and tomato cuppa soup and 4 assorted Oxo cubes in a pint of boiling water)
