Jessie drives me nuts getting the girls who he doesn't want to be in a love triangle with to fetch him food and such. He'll make some girl a fine husband someday, no? (Retch.)
It may be a huge mistake for Jeff to use his power, but I for one would like to see it. I could happily live the rest of my life without ever laying eyes on either Jessie or Natalie again. Jeff has definitely been feeling folks out on who they'd vote off between Jessie and Manalie. Er, Natalie...sorry.
I agree with Gats that Russell's allegiance to Jeff could be quite short lived, even if Jeff saves him with the Coup. The two of them proved in the pukey-swing HOH competition that they've got the fortitude to hang in there (pun intended) and could be a force to be reckoned with if they'd just stick together. I don't doubt Jeff's ability to stick to his word, but Russell's integrity is another matter.
All indications, including Jeff's DR in last night's episode, are that he does intend to use the power. It could come back to bite him in the butt, but it's equally as likely that it could bite him if he chooses not to use it.
You never know from year to year how the jury's going to vote, anyway. Some years they seem to vote on best gameplay, even if they're voting for someone they all detest (Dr. Will, for example). Other years, it seems quite personal (BB3 when they chose Lisa over Danielle -- which by the way, was the impetus for sequestering the jury ever after).
This forum is labeled "contains spoilers" but I don't know how many spoilers this small group wants. I could tell you who won the veto so you could be mulling that over, or you can wait until Tuesday and be surprised, which has its own reward. For that reason, I haven't said anything as I don't want to ruin it for anyone who doesn't want to know.

Oh no ! I couldn't resist temptation, so searched a bit and was less than thrilled [ indeed] to discover who got PoV this week! Ugh! This isn't to say that there's anything especially unsettling and/or threatening about this person --- but, it seems to me, it doesn't lend itself to much suspense. Given this new tidbit of info? Jeff will definitely be using his "wizardry" this week, I'd say. And should, too, it would seem apparent? He'll be given NO choice, considering that both his 'homey' and his 'honey' are likely to end up on the block . Unless I have it figured out all wrong, that is ....

I too was curious and went over to the "true spoilers" at CBS's website to find out that Veto winner I don't think the ceremony happened yet. Nothing special but I'm satisfied either way. Bring on Thursday! I also saw "The Dish" webshow with Ross Matthews and Ronnie. Ronnie said in the interview that he was evicted because he was the smartest one in the house and was a huge threat. If he was that smart he wouldn't be talking to Jay Leno's intern so early in the game. The smartest player in the game is still in the house and the other houseguests don't know who they are because the smart players don't create a target for themselves. I'll still watch Tuesday's episode anyway for reactions and the like.

On tonight's episode, I was not surprised to see Russell turning on Jeff in his storage room conversation with Jessie only moments (in TV time, anyway) after solidifying his alliance with Jeff (with a man to man handshake, no less).
I'm not at all sure Jeff wouldn't be doing more harm than good to himself by using the Coup at this point. He'll put a huge target on his back with his only reward being the rather shaky ally Russell remaining. Although Russ may end up backing Jeff up, as long as his life's not personally in danger. I can't imagine him ever being able to fully rejoin the Jessie/Natalie/Chima alliance at any rate.
For my personal viewing pleasure, of course I hope he does use it. And I hope he uses it to put up Jessie and Natalie. That little J/N/C block needs a big chunk taken out of it, in my opinion. It's a perfect time to try that move, as neither Jessie or Natalie would be able to vote for the other, and Chima will only be able to vote in the event of a tie.
That veto competition was a bit excruciating to watch. I don't know that I'd have had the patience to do that 12 times. It made me a bit stressed just watching them do it.
I quite enjoyed Jessie's irritation at Russell's choosing Jeff over him to play in the veto competition. Interestingly, if Russell had chosen Jessie instead, Russell would probably have won the veto. They didn't show this on TV, but here's the way the drawing for the veto players actually went down: Chima drew Natalie. Russell drew "Houseguest's Choice" and chose Jeff. Lydia drew Jeff (because his name, having not been drawn, was still in the bag). Since Russell had already chosen Jeff, Lydia had to draw again and drew Kevin. So -- if Russell had chosen Jessie, Lydia would have drawn Jeff, and Kevin would not have played for the veto at all, and Russell, being only seconds behind Kevin, would have won! (Unless Jessie had won, of course.)
At which point, Chima would have had an absolute fit ~ and then would have had no choice but to put up Jeff or Jordan as she is allied or semi-allied with all the remaining houseguests. And there we would have our guaranteed use of the Coup come Thursday.

Unsubstantiated -- but word on the internet is that tomorrow's live audience was told to arrive at 11:30am rather than 2:30pm as usual. Speculation is that the show may be pre-recorded due to Chima's threats to "go off" if the mystery power is used.

Found this on the internet:
"Big Brother 11 » by Andy Dehnart / August 12, 2009, 7:57 PM Thursday’s live Big Brother 11 eviction will be pre-taped, not live. The live studio audience is being told to arrive at 11:30 a.m. PT, not the usual 3:30, which is 90 minutes prior to the live show’s start. In other words, producers are giving themselves between four and five hours to tape and edit the show.
The obvious reason is that Jeff holds the coup d’etat, and will likely use it Thursday, and that will make the live show extremely unpredictable, whether Chima freaks out that her HOH power has been stripped from her or Jeff’s new nominees have meltdowns. In addition, while Big Brother tends to produce good live shows because they’re so formulaic, the second something moves outside of the formula, things crumble fast. For example, once when an HOH had to break a tie, the “about to be evicted” music ended long before that person actually made a decision. (I wish I could remember who that was, but my end-of-season cleansing ritual erases most memories.)
Since the coup has never been used, it’d be hard to figure out how much time that takes, so the production is buying themselves time to both tape and edit. Of course, that also means they can censor speeches, both for profanity or actual content, or leave stuff out, which means it might lose some of the drama that comes from that unpredictability."
Bummer.
I think that's a bit of a cop-out on the part of the producers. Afterward, they can show us as much or as little drama as they want. In a way, it's always that way on the TV show, because there are so many things that happen inside the house that never make it to television. But at least most of those things can be reported by the feeders, while anything that happens while taping will be blocked from everyone's view.
It's interesting, anyway, since whether Jeff uses the Coup or not (and the producers must be quite certain that he will), BB history is being made with this pre-taping.
The houseguests were awakened very early this morning (6:17am, when they usually let them sleep until 9 or 10), and ALL houseguests were told to pack their belongings, rather than just the 2 nominees. This is a BB first as well. Even during the yearly double eviction week, they don't make everyone pack -- the second surprise eviction houseguest just walks out the door empty handed and gets their belongings later.

Some sites say that only Russell and Lydia packed, but it appeared on the live feeds that all were packing.
CBS is still billing tonight as a live show.
There's a message on the feeds which reads "Big Brother is currently preparing for tonight's live television broadcast."
The live feeds are down and the CBS website reports they will not return until 9pm EST.

There has been some speculation that they will film Jeff using the Coup this afternoon and then the live show will go on at the usual time.

Hmmm. I'm not sure (at all) if I dare trust it ... but my *huge* gut feeling, after watching last night and still this morning, is that the events as they unfolded last night? I'm thinking that Russell has the very best chance of winning this season. I haven't probed yet why I feel that way (I'll do that later ). But it just looked like everything was landing perfectly right for him, top-to-bottom ...

I'm still thinking it was taped, too, and I noticed that Julie Chen did not say it was live as she usually does. However, in their attempt to avoid potential FCC fines, CBS gave us a quite dull show that, indeed, did not live up to the hype. In fact, it seemed very much like all the houseguests had been given Valium prior to the eviction ceremony. Even at the end of the show, when Julie Chen said "let's eavesdrop on the house", the houseguests were all just standing mutely in the backyard.
Despite all that, I was delighted to see Jessie booted out, and think it was a good move for Jeff.
The aftermath, though, has been a bit creepy. Lydia, Natalie, and Chima quite literally had a wake for Jessie last night, complete with sobbing and endless discussion of what a truly wonderful person he "was". [Prior to this, all three girls had gone to the Diary Room and told Big Brother they wanted to quit the show. They were bribed into staying with beauty products. No lie.] The "death" of Jessie has apparently given him sainthood status. Plans have been made for the girls to wear Jessie's clothes during future competitions to honor his spirit.
This is all reminding me an awful lot of BB6 when Maggie and Ivette and their followers built a shrine to the departed St. Cappy. And let us not forget, Maggie and Ivette went on to win the game.
For the moment, the house appears unequivocably divided in half -- Chima/Natalie/Lydia/Kevin on one side, Jeff/Jordan/Michelle/Russ on the other. Kevin, however, possessing male genitalia, is having a hard time identifying with the Coven and refuses to worship at the Alter of Jessie. Even Natalie is upset with Kevin for voting to evict Jessie, despite the fact that, had he done so, she would be the one drinking margaritas in the jury house tonight.
Chima will be Michelle's target for eviction on Thursday, which (if successful) will leave only Natalie, Lydia, and Kevin to compete for the next HOH. If Jeff's team can win the first HOH on Thursday, they can knock out another of those three on the same day, and will have the numbers to sail through after that.
Personally, I think it would be interesting for Michelle to put up Natalie and Lydia to watch them fight to be the next evicted, so they can join poor dead Jessie in the jury house!

Hi all, I'm logging on for the first time since having moved to Virginia.
I've been watching the show from the beginning, including the BBAD eppies. I witnessed the "wake" for Jessie and couldn't believe the transformation that Lydia made. Initially she was happy to be removed from nomination by Jeff (Something her very own Sugar Bear Kevin refused to do when he won this week's POV). As the night went on she became more and more resentful of his actions, going as far to say that she didn't want to come off the block because she knew she was safe because Russell's eviction was secure (BTW, this is the very logic Kevin used to try to assuage her for not using the POV - and she didn't buy it). Then after downing some liquid courage and crying her eyeballs out with Natalie and Chima she lifted a corkscrew and announced how to use it as a weapon, all the while graphically describing how to injure Jeff's genitals - and add insult to injury by causing additional blood loss when turning the corkscrew. Personally I believe she should be reprimanded for this by BB production, plus the guys should be made aware that this "threat" was made so that they can be on alert when around Lydia, especially when she's been drinking. Chima and Natalie enjoyed this, but I don't think Kevin did as he was seen later alone in the "Green" room. Maybe he knows Lydia is an albatross? Perhaps he's coming to his senses and is thinking of jumping to the "other side"? He's no dummy, but even during the last HOH competition he was taking directions from Chima!
I did not know that all the girls wanted to leave the house, I thought it was just Chima... seems like poor sportsmanship on their parts to want to quit just because they didn't like the outcome of one week of the game. Chima has gotten into these girls heads!! She really needs to go, now. Given what she has gone through in the past I suppose it's no wonder she's the female definition of a misogynist but she is the biggest problem in that house, calling Russell a Middle Eastern terrorist and herself the Twin Towers is going a bit too far. Even Russell, who has done his fair share of bullying is a much better competitor and person now that he has sided with those who are like-minded. I am crossing my fingers for Jeff, Michele, Jordan and even Russell at this point. If Kevin can muster the nerve to jump ship I'd even root for him.

According to IMDB forum the Nominations ceremony is going on right now, and Natalie, Chima and Lydia are consulting the rule book trying to find a way to penalize Michelle for telling Natalie in advance that she is going up. These girls are grasping at straws and Chima is leading them all the way!
edited to add:
Almost two hours later and the nominations ceremony is STILL going on. What could be happening?

First to say: here's hoping your move went as smoothly as possible, BurgGurl! Now, to this BB strangeness. I'm totally lost now . I haven't dug around too much online (so am especially appreciating the behind-the-scenes details given). Chima I [kinda] sensed as a potential nutjob from Day One. I fully *get it* (I think I even mentioned it early on) that her back story is 'powerful'. However? I historically have a definite problem with how "back stories" play out in competitions such as this one -- even though Big Brother is more about personalities than, say, singing or dancing prowess. So, given that, I reckon what baggage a player brings in to the thing will become potent, just by the nature of the beast. There's a big difference, though, in gaining power and inner strengths from overcoming this adversity or that one than there is to take that empowerment and become a hateful, vindictive shrew. The first has to do with becoming a better human being. The latter has to do with becoming an almost anti-hero. Do I think she deserves considerations, small or large, for surviving being a rape victim? Yes, I think I do. What I *don't* understand is the inclination in place that she feels that her *baggage* should become everyone else's just as much. I understand it worse that she has the gall, bad history or not, to be deciding that her "hate" (if that's the right word) is the only one that should get understood. I fully agree. The "Twin Towers" remark was completely over-the-top -- and not so terribly dfferent than Braden's outbursts earlier. I'm starting to liken her to some creepy cult leader wannabe in there. None of this has anything to do with the "game" now. It's all about her and her need to have a (slightly demented, by the sounds of it) *tribe* wherein she is the High Priestess. That's pretty scary, if you ponder it . That she's sucking the other two girls into this vortex of hers is opportunistic times twenty, too. Not that their gullibility is entirely Chima's fault, though, is it? They're grown women, after all. Any hope I had for Lydia is now shot. Pretty much, the minute she so unflinchingly got "Jessied"? No redemption thereafter. I honestly did not at first see her, of all people, ending up obsessing with the likes of him. My gosh ... it all started to stink of the Charles Manson family ! Or, maybe (seeing as how it is just a TV show, and all) I'm stupidly reading too much into it? I would have to predict that the producers will HAVE to step in to this mess, yes? Either that or edit the broadcasts like crazy. It all sounds entirely unsafe to air this behavior on prime time television without much (much!) trimming. It would seem that, maybe, the only good thing to have happened this week is that it's pushing Kevin to *wise up*. My hunch is that he's a much better/smarter player than he's taken the chance to be, so far. He's the biggest non-issue running around that house. And he needs to step it up. Now, too! One last (rambling) remark. What I really (really, really) don't get is how Jessie managed to get all this craziness going. He's about as 'charismatic' as Dick Cheney, for heaven's sakes! It's all a bit like "The Twilight Zone" ....

Oh Gats, you wouldn't believe what's been going on there in the last 24 hours. I want to warn you and anyone else that IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO KNOW STOP READING NOW!!! I know it's marked that there are possible spoilers here, but this is B-I-G, BIG.
*****************************************************************
Chima has left the building. She says she quit, CBS says she was removed for breaking policy and for intentional equipment damage. Last night on BBAD it came to light that she had to have a new mike because hers had fallen into the hot tub (off-camera, before BBAD began), also after numerous prompts from BB to put on her new mike she refused and even flipped the bird (two-handed, no less) to the Voice in the Sky. She was uncharacteristically quiet most of the show anyway, except to loudly say across the back yard that she had been *effectively screwed over* (except in more colorful terms) by Michele.
Either both she and Lydia, though Lydia did say on-camera during BBAD, but there's also talk that Chima too threatened to sneak red M&Ms into Michele's drink in order to cause an allergic reaction. Also, apparently Natalie, Lydia and Chima had been wreaking havoc throughout the house all day long by among other things dumping Russell's still-packed suitcase out onto the floor, removing Jeff's sheets from his bed, removing his clothes from the dresser drawers and replacing them with Kevin's (who BTW put his foot down and said they were making him complicit). They also stole Jeff's rosary (perhaps believing it was Russell's), possibly dumped hot sauce on Jeff's clothes and commandeered the washer and dryer all day long by running the longest possible cycles to wash their already clean clothes, etc. in an effort to prevent Jeff from washing his own laundry.
How they could get away with this behavior all day long was unbelievable, yet when Chima refused to comply to BB's rules and even purposely destroyed her microphone they had enough to eject her from the house. They plan on showing some of this on an upcoming show, and in case anyone is wondering - no, she will not be a member of the jury, her photo is GONE and she will not be at the finale. She has been banished, Finis! Also, she will be fined for the damage and breaking her contract with CBS....
Due to the fallout, there will be no eviction this week. AND there's already a new HOH and today there could even be new nominations.
I don't know what to make of all of this. On one hand, this is what could happen when people begin to become stir-crazy, but on the other hand, they did sign up for this and it is a game. You can't have things go your way all the time and Chima didn't seem to realize that. I wonder if Jessie will be privy to any of this, as none of it would have happened if he hadn't been evicted!
Edited to add and correct myself/clarify: Because Chima is gone what would have been a double-eviction this week has been rendered a fast-forward so Michele's reign as HOH has unceremoniously ended. A new HOH has been crowned and their nominations will likely be announced soon. How that will play out I'm not sure, unless they cut and paste from tonight onward until all that'll be left is a live eviction this Thursday? Thoughts, anyone?
Edited to delete spoiler warnings as it is old news now....

That was a good way to post the BIG spoiler, BurgGurl! I was wondering how much to say about these huge developments -- a first in BB history.
I do believe this is the craziest cast ever! In earlier years, we've had things like Shannon scrubbing the toilet with Hardy's toothbrush, and America's player Eric putting mustard on clothing. This year, we've got an HOH sequestered in his room for 48 hours, existing almost exclusively on the food in his HOH basket...Lydia threatening to cut herself to gain the attention of a ridiculous egomaniac...laundry-blocking...intentional destruction of a $5000 microphone...CBS forced to pre-tape a "live" show...and now with the departure of Chima an impromptu HOH competition only 2 days into an HOH reign. We will now be left with a jury of 6. (According to the houseguests, America will get to decide the winner in the event of a tie.)
History has been made repeatedly this year, and I can't say I haven't enjoyed it. At the very least, I hope it's attracting some much needed attention to this show. Every year, I worry that BB will be cancelled, as the viewing audience seems almost non-existent. I read that Thursday's eviction show had the largest audience of any Big Brother episode ever. All this drama with Chima should keep the viewers coming back this week as well.
The upcoming Thursday was supposed to be a double eviction week. Why they didn't just make it a single eviction week and go on as before is a mystery to me. Instead, they ended Michele's HOH as if her nominations had been voted on and Chima was evicted, and held a new HOH competition already.
Lydia is going quite nuts and I wouldn't be surprised to see her go crazy enough to get cut out by CBS just like Chima did. (Except for the fact that she'd have to go home instead of to the jury house to be with her beloved Jessie.)
The feeds were cut for over an hour during Chima's ejection, so we will all have to wait to watch CBS's edited version of the events on television. The houseguests have not given us a great deal of info about what happened, as every time they start talking about it, the producers cut the feeds.
Jessie will at least get some of this info, as Chima will never arrive at the jury house!
Supposedly, Chima was told she would have to pay for destroying the microphone -- it will be taken out of her stipend (which may not be enough to even cover it).
I'll add more commentary later when I have more free time. I really enjoy reading everyone's commentary here. Thanks to all!

Ugh. Watching those three young women behaving like they did on last night's episode ranks among one of the most disturbing scenes I've ever seen on television . If you ask me, it was a complete disservice to the entire female gender to show them mewling and being so (strangely) melodramatic as they were being. Over the likes of Jessie, especially. I, for one, am thrilled that Chima is gone (the woman's middle name had, unfortunately, become "Toxic"). Too bad she didn't take the other two Witches of Eastwick with her. No offense to Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon or Cher intended, either. Or, for that matter, to Jack Nicholson. At least in that (odd, fictional) project Jack had some magnetism/charm that might inspire such obsession. Jessie? The worship-worthy traits of a golf ball ...

I found last night's show to be a disappointment, if only because I was expecting the fallout with Chima to be shown. I guess the producers felt they needed time to set up the scenario for the big explosion. But on Saturday afternoon during the PGA tournament, CBS aired a commercial hyping last night's show as "the biggest blowout in Big Brother history"...which ended up being nothing more than a P.S. at the end of the episode. Talk about stringing your viewers along...!
The news of Chima's departure has been spread far and wide by now, and it seems pointless for CBS to try and milk it and drag it out. Chima's quotes at the end of the episode about how she didn't care if she was nominated fell completely flat, now that everyone knows what has happened since.
I, too, found the cult-worship scene quite disturbing, especially that Jessie had been canonized to the point that all agreed that "he never said a bad word about anyone in this house". Excuse me?
Kevin's facial expressions during the "wake" were priceless -- probably the best part of the entire episode.
I am weary to the point of exhaustion of what's left of this little coven. Their latest ploy has been the construction of a huge lie about overhearing Russell and Michelle making a deal to evict Jeff and go to Final 2 together. This lie was sent to Jeff via Kevin in an attempt to get him to turn on Russell, thereby saving their little group for another week. Things change fast in the BB house, but at this point, the lie is believed by Jeff and Jordan and they are at least considering getting rid of Russell this week. I'm thinking this may be a huge mistake, as they need to shave the numbers of the coven a bit more. They may rightfully have doubts about Russell's loyalty, but they should have even less doubt about the intentions of Kevin/Lydia/Natalie. Howie made the same mistake in BB6 by evicting James, one of his own alliance members, and it came back to bite him on the boo-boo in short order. That was, in my opinion, the second stupidest move in BB history -- the first being when Marcellas chose not to use the veto on himself and was promptly evicted.
Interestingly, the remaining coven members have finally started to see Jessie for what he was, at least in part. Natalie has discovered that Lydia and Jessie were engaging in all sorts of sexcapades behind her back (and behind the back of America, I guess, as I don't think this was alluded to on television). Natalie learned this by playing that old trick, "Jessie already told me everything, so you might as well admit it", which a was painfully transparent ploy to everyone except Lydia, who admitted quite a bit more than I think Natalie wanted to hear. (Particularly about a certain substance that ended up on Natalie's ASU sweatshirt which she's been wearing around in blissful ignorance.)
I doubt any of this will affect the game much, as Natalie and Lydia are pretty much stuck with each other for the time being.
The original plan was to evict Natalie this week. In my mind, this would be the smartest move, as it would leave only Kevin and Lydia from that team to play for HOH. (HOH is expected to be endurance this week, but one never knows...) Russell has been gunning for Kevin of late, so if Natalie were evicted, I doubt Russell would align with either Kevin or Lydia, forcing him to stay at least somewhat true to his alliance-of-the-week. On the other hand, if Russell is evicted, the numbers return to an even 3-3 -- Jeff/Jordan/Michelle vs. Natalie/Lydia/Kevin -- which seems like bad odds in my book. I hope Jeff is smart enough to realize this sometime this week. He's already feeling stung, and he has every right to feel so, since he saved Russell off the block and Russell immediately turned around and voted for Jessie to stay. But, personally, I think shaving the numbers down on the other side is a smarter move right now.

For whatever reason my DVR didn't record last night's episode, so when I sat down at 8:50 to watch it from the beginning I was miffed but at 9:00 I realized it was still on so I only really missed the first half hour. As a result I didn't get to see the CBS edited version of Jessie's wake - only from the beginning of the Food Comp forward. You are right, it did seem a bit anti-climactic to watch Chima pout and half-heartedly participate in the competition knowing what was about to transpire later. Not only that, I have to wonder when the post-comp DR sessions were recorded - if they were done after her departure the "phoniness" was apparent. At times I wish there weren't programs like BBAD or feeds for the viewers to watch, I'd still like to actually be surprised by the show once in awhile!!
As for BBAD, since I have Showtime 2 I do watch the show and I watched last night. I must admit Natalie's "Plan LML" (Last Minute Lie) seems to be working, though it would be satisfying to see it backfire and she still get eliminated this week. She and Lydia are pitiful and it's laughable that they cling together in light of Jessie and Chima's absences given their earlier contempt for one another; even Kevin seems tired of the two of them. It would be nice to see him play the game without Lydia hanging around his neck, maybe then I would pull for him. Poor Jeff is being played like a violin, I hope he keeps his wits and still knocks Natalie out of the game before Russell, he needs to keep him around for the veto competition this week. Then let the chips fall where they may, the numbers will still be in his favor to let go of him later.

I'm surprised there haven't been any comments this week, as it's been one of the biggest weeks in memory in BB history. (Me, I haven't said much because my laptop is infected with a deadly virus and I'm having to share a computer with a teenager.) So in the interest of brevity, I'll just say I've been quite disappointed in Jeff's gameplay since using the coup. He's allowed Natalie and Kevin's lies to infect his judgment. His alliance would have been much better off sending Natalie or Kevin home, since Lydia had no game. He's allowing thoughts of aligning with Nat or Kevin to pull him away from his former alliance, and the thing is this: I don't think he's thinking about the fact that Nat and Kevin have more friends in the jury house, and if he sends his own alliance to the jury house, Nat and Kevin will have more friends in the jury house than they otherwise would have. While I think his paranoia about Russell is justified, it's just as dangerous to let Natalie and Kevin get too close to the end. (Man, I'm glad it's them in there and not me!)
