Sometime after my quiz "US Cars Makes and Models of the 1950s" had been put online, I found out on my own that the Interesting Information for one question was incorrect. I located several references to dealing with this kind of situation here on FunTrivia.
In the general FAQ, one question is "I created a quiz earlier. How can I edit it now?" but the wording of the answer, "To edit a quiz that you have already started working on" implies that it refers to quizzes not yet submitted. At any rate, it says just to use the "edit" button for the particular quiz.
In the Quiz Creation Guidelines, under "Changing a quiz that is online," it says "You should contact an editor via a Quizzyland message e.g. send a correction note to your own quiz. This will be seen by all editors in your category. Alternatively, see 'Contacting a Quizzyland Editor' on the previous page." A similar statement is made under "Contacting a Quizzyland Editor."
A post from agony in this forum in the thread "Editing a Quiz - procedure" says "As it is, though, best to contact the editor who put the quiz online, or another editor in that category, and check that your change is all right. Chances are very good that it will be no problem, but it is better to make sure. We *strongly* prefer that authors not make changes to online quizzes without editorial input."
Here's what I did: First, I sent a message to the Editor who had approved my quiz originally. I had no response, so I just let it go, and to be honest, the matter slipped my mind. I was reminded of it by the forum post, so I looked around and found the other references. I sent myself a Correction Note with an explanation of the situation along with my proposed revision. Of course, this generated a Correction Notice to me. At this point I was wondering if I was supposed to wait for a response from an Editor, but I decided to go ahead and make the change and mark the Correction Notice as taken care of.
Did I do this correctly? My concern is that the FAQ, as worded, could be construed to apply to any quiz "created earlier" unless one reads between the lines, and also that the other answers do not specifically state a) if there's a difference between changing the question or the answers or merely changing the Interesting Info and, b) exactly what to do after submitting a Correction Note, something along the lines of 1. Submit Correction note, 2. Wait for and Editor's response, 3. Follow Editor's instructions for correcting your quiz.
If anyone's still with me after all that, again my question is, was the way I corrected my quiz proper? Thanks.
