I have had no problem getting mine resubmitted. I take note of what the editor says and reword the questions then resubmit. I have had one rejected as a wrong answer but I realized it was wrong as soon as I submitted it. I was glad the editor caught it. I have one that hasn't been rated yet that an editor has transposed the first and second sentences and it sounds much better than the way I had asked it.

Actually, I'm referring to a new "resubmit" button that I added. You no longer have to retype out your questions.

So a question comes back having been removed from the game because of an error report. Said error report has no references or "evidence" and is thus basically someone's opinion. At this point whether or not they actually can provide references/evidence is unknown. I find page after page of references showing that the question is correct, including "reputable sources" from various academics and so on, but there is no way for me to actually show them to anyone. My options are to resubmit the question, which will then no doubt go round again when the person who sent the note sees it, or click delete and watch it sit there until the glitch is fixed and it actually vanishes... Is there a way we could have a "regular correction note" arrangement whereby I could have said all this to an editor, sent them the various links to back up my info and have done with it? Or do I put about four links into the interesting info on the question as it is resubmitted?

There is a box on the resubmit form: "note for the editor" where you can briefly outline the reason the qn should have never been rejected.

Ooo good! I could always follow up with a note I guess, I have LOTS of links lol. Does it go back to the editor who returned it? (does that make sense? the returned Qs have an editors name with them) or could I put "please could you contact me for the links" in the little box perhaps? That way it wouldn't matter which editor it was, they would then get to see all the links and things.

All editors of the category can see it, and either deal with it themselves, or wait until someone specific reads it.

The editing process should be as simple as possible with these considering they are simple questions.

Is this in regards to your Roman question? If so, I recall the note was saying that there was scholarly dispute about your answer. In general, we want all questions to be as precise as possible. If there is such a dispute in a history question, you can mention "According to the current leading theory", or something like that.

So a general note to say I have X number sources will probably do the trick then. Including one source where a text book has been corrected to "say it my way" lol.

Thanks Terry for implementing the resubmission option. I just got my only question that had been questioned back on line in record time due to the ability to edit it and explain the rationale to the editor who took it offline. Excellent system, and it does produce the best possible product... clear, interesting and well-written questions.

One of my questions was edited before acceptance (and I quite understand the reason for the change), but was left with a slightly ungrammatical presentation. Is there any way for me to edit the question once it has been submitted? If not, how can I contact an editor to ask to have it adjusted? It's not a serious problem, but since I am so pedantic myself about correcting the spelling and punctuation mistakes of others, I hate to see it out there under my name!

That's a little difficult, unfortunately. The best way to deal with this, (probably too late in this case) is to send a correction with the question when you see it come up.

If i had ever had a chance to take the question, I would have submitted a correction notice, as I did for another question with a typo I spotted on playing it. But this one went through without me getting it, so that wasn't an option. Guess I have to live with it, at least until someone else plays it and sends a correction notice!

I had this happen on two questions - one changed a capital on a word to a non capital when it should have been a capital letter, and the other changed a word I used (not sure why)but didn't change the grammer to go with it and it made the question look really tacky.

It did annoy me because I get rated on how the question reads and it wasn't my question anymore.

In general the editors are probably correct when they change something but I think there should be a way to contact someone for those times when you can see it now has an error in it - before it goes online.

I did send a correction note on one of them when I finally got it but that was after over 200 people had already played it.

Since Terry built this one fairly quickly, it's missing some of the nice bits that quiz making has, unfortunately. One of these days he'll get around to giving us better access to these questions, I'm sure.

Just to be fair, if each question that needs editing had to go back to the original writer to get changed, the whole process would become even more cumbersone for the editors, who are doing a great job of getting these on line quickly. Sometimes mistakes will be made (after all, they're only human), but all in all, it is the best way to get new questions out there soon.
