You can now "resubmit" questions that get turned back by the editors.

Please give it a shot and let me know if it's working for you. Thanks!

Is it appropriate to contact the editor that turned it back to ask for what should be fixed? I have one that simply says "because of player corrections". The only 'mistake' that I can spot myself in this question is explained in the Interesting Info.

Yep, go ahead. The hope is that it should normally be self explanatory. The player corrections are being kept for all questions going forward, but some old ones were deleted when the eds rejected, so the text might not be available.

Had a go at it with Nannanut on a recent new question. Technically it seems to work just fine.

I was unsure about the instructions that informed me I would only be able to resubmit my question once. Nannanut and I went back and forth a couple of times before the question was fully resolved, so those instructions are somewhat misleading.

All the same, it's definitely a great new feature, thanks Terry!

But the "delete" link doesn't work properly.

I am guessing my question is being banned after 258 plays as it only has a 25% correct answer percentage, thus not meeting the criteria, however, I think if I can change some of the answers to make it easier, it might qualify. How do I edit the incorrect answers to make it easier, thus perhaps having an acceptable question, rather than throw it away all together? If only two edits are allowed then this would be the third I'm afraid, but just as good as getting in a new question perhaps if it works.

I also found that another of my questions, which has been accepted after the first submission, should be slightly edited to make the answer more accurate. Any way to do this? I am not starting off overly successfully in putting in questions that are acceptable in one fell swoop, trial and error seems to be the only way I learn effectively, not the best way, i.e. getting it right at the outset. Experience should help. I wanted the 50 questions badge, but need to make some of the questions easer to answer correctly.
Any editors want to respond? I would appreciate it.

There doesn't seem to be a way to edit the questions once they are online, unless someone sends a Correction Note. Editors get to see those and they are only sent back to you if the need changes that the editor can't easily make. I don't think the intention was ever to be able to tweak them to make them easier.
As to qualifying for the badge, there are two different badges. One is for 50 questions online and the other is for 50 questions that have a difficulty rating within a specified range and that are rated .2 and above.
I have one badge but not the other. Many of my questions are too hard but some are too easy. Then there are those that haven't rated highly enough. If I want the second badge, I just have to keep writing more questions!

I have written over 60 questions, but only 20 of them have met the 60% or better correct requirements. More than a few are 58% or 59% but do not qualify.

Thank you for that Lynn and honeybee4. I will try harder and send a correction on that one question accepted if I ever get it myself, unless someone else sees the discrepancy, more unlikely. So what I am gathering is then that my question was frozen at 258 and 25%, thus being removed from the system entirely, never to appear again. I could then redo the question myself with changes that may work and submit it as a new question at some point I am guessing, a new and improved version to try and meet the criteria as laid out, hard to know what our quizzes will get right, glad I am not the only one finding it thus. Goldilocks comes to mind.

No, its not removed from the system, it has just come to the end of its run in the New Questions game. From here, if it is rated highly enough, it could appear in one of the category mix quizzes or it could be included in the hourly game that is appropriate for its level of toughness (which at 25% would probably be "Obsure" at a guess).

I think every question that scores a good should be used somewhere on the site. It is a waste not to use them when we have put the effort in to writing them and having them rated "good" but not getting a score of over 60%,

I recall Terry mentioned using them in the various games around the site, such as the Obscure game.

Honeybee, going by the number of my questions that have qualified for the Questions badge, I think the qualifying percentage is 55% not 60%. I have noticed that different figures are given in different places in the Question Quest.

I see quite a few obscure questions in the Mixture quizzes.

For example, I had this question in a General Mixture quiz:

Which South American revolutionary suffered from psoriasis?

Simon Bolivar
Abimael Guzman
Che Guevara
Bernardo O'Higgins

I find it REAL difficult to believe that 60% got this correct (and the answer is not obvious).

Che wasn't South American, O'Higgins and Bolivar were freedom fighters, not revolutionaries, so Guzman must have suffered from psoriasis. Am I right?

Those are the numbers that were given at the outset and appear somewhere, on the main Question Quest page maybe, can't quite remember. But the requirements for the badge are questions rated 0.2 or better, and correct answer percentages between 55-95%.

Thank you for those explanations snowman and the others. I feel okay now that they will likely use these questions.
I did not quite check around the site enough before starting to see what was already mentioned. I thought it would be a snap, and good for my slightly A.D.D ish (undiagnosed officially) eclectic methods, but find it not quite as easy as all that after all. Some people have way over 100 questions up there already accepted. It's really a very good idea, though.

I'm wondering if anyone else has the same problem as has arisen for me.

I have one accepted question that was approved about three-four weeks ago, as well as I can reckon. I've never had one wait so long, so I thought perhaps it was "stuck" in some way. So, I wrote another question in the same category, to see if that would "nudge" it out into play. The new question was approved yesterday, and today is already being played! Obviously, the system has lost track of my first question.

Has anybody else experienced such a long wait? Terry, is there something that can be done about this?

Agony, I've had two waiting, one finally went on line a couple days ago and the other still is waiting. I'm sure it has not been so long for mine, maybe a week or so. But that does suggest and idea to me. Could the date of approval be included under Recently Accepted Submissions? Might help remind those of us (like in Me!) who think we've been waiting a "really long time" (and it really hasn't, just seems that way)a reminder of when it was accepted. I do try to keep the date I submitted a question in my Word file but don't always remember. In any case, just a suggestion.

I have a feeling all of the submissions are randomly pulled from the single-q pool. I've had very similar situations in the past.

OK, if it's just something that happens sometimes, I won't worry about it. I'm not sure exactly how long it's been, but it had been about two weeks when I made a note of it, and that was on the 20th. Most of mine have been four or five days, about.
