This new show is starting next week - on its "official" run. I tell you what! I'm loving the promise in it. I watched the preview episodes last spring, and it was really really good. Well-written. Nicely produced. The teacher who takes on the glee club is terrific (and engagingly complicated, too). And those kids! True, they are a little 'meet cute' at first ... but they seem believable, at the same time. Given time, I'm thinking it could be a wildly good series. If people watch it, that is [*sigh*]. Here's the promotional trailer for it (and it's good) but the full episode I watched was awesome. Anybody else planning to watch as it kicks in to a regular time slot?

I'm still watching (and enjoying). Sigh, I guess I'm now a 'Gleek', then ? The show is getting its feet, and they have a lot of characters to flesh out --- which they're doing nicely, in my opinion, bit by bit. Examples: in the episode last night -- that scene at the end between Kurt and his Dad was extremely well done! Not too much (and it could have been) ... just enough. And that short snippet with Finn (the jock) handing over his baby blanket to that horrible cheerleader? Absolutely choice, both in subtlety and character development. The program has these moments of sweetness that are like wonderful fireworks AND that, in lesser hands, could be so sugary that they'd give a person toothaches. The writers are very very good on this thing, and that's crazy important. Naturally the production numbers are all first-rate. I've not seen one yet that disappointed ! And, yep choco_nut ... those boogeying football players were a watch-worthy kick last night (no pun intended). Do ya think the team won, at the last minute ? Do ya think said (potential) victory landed on the shoulders of the put-upon effeminate field goal kicker? Who wanted to pee first, before he had to kick that football (lol). Of course. But the show doesn't tease, too often, with any sort of "unhappy" ending to things. Just like it doesn't even a little pretend that there's anything real about a high school that has, at least twice a week, somebody breaking into a Broadway-worthy song and dance between Algebra class and study hall. It pays homage to those old-fashioned musicals of so long ago, and it does it with (in my opinion) grand respect. I'm wondering, a LOT, what they'll end up doing with Mr. Schuester's evidently psycho wife, though . She's just plain creepy, and not remotely 'funny' about it like Sue Sylvester [Jane Lynch] is amusing in her obsession with derailing the Glee club. I think the 'pregnant' wife interrupts the feel of the show, somehow --- but I trust the writing staff will work her out. Honestly, if they have her doing a number (ala "Sweeney Todd", or something) about stealing that nasty teenager's baby right out of the young girl's womb? To an Irving Berlin-like tune, maybe ? That could get tricky, indeed ....

I will try to find it On Demand and watch from the beginning. Can't record it while it's on though because of other shows taping in that time slot. We really like Jane Lynch in everything she's in, so I must make it a point.

Definitely Gats.
The cast were here in Australia last week and had guest spots on a few shows including Australian Idol. I agree BurgGurl, Jane is a very talented comedian, she was very quick witted with her ad- libbing on the talk shows out here.
The "Idols" did their version of "Don't Stop Believing" in front of the cast. I don't think it was such a good idea as the Glee version is so much better. I could just imagine Jane holding that big "L" up on her head after that performance.
One criticism with the show is they really need to work on their lip-synching in the songs. It's worse than a top 24 Idol group number at the moment.

I must have been grabbing a sandwich (or something?) at one key moment in the episode Wednesday night ... but I watched the tape and caught it this morning. Yikes, indeed! Poor gullible Finn ! He'll buy anything he's told, evidently? His 'girlfriend' got pregnant because of a passionate kiss in a suitably warm hot tub? L. O. L! I'm thinking they have no health classes in that Ohio high school, then?

Fox is pulling out all the stops to promote this show. They are using all the traditional means, and they have even started embracing a new advertising vehicle called "advernetainment", using popular youtubers to make a pitch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggs75MzHHY8

BurgGurl, they have the full episodes on Fox.com if you can't find it on OnDemand. That's how I'm watching it since I don't have cable at the moment. Or any kind of tv, for that matter...

I missed the pilot and the season starts in November over here. Well, I went to fox.com to see if I could watch the pilot but it says the videos are only available to people in the US... a lot of websites do that now! I wish they didn't do that The same happens with many videos on YouTube. Anyway, this shows looks very interesting! Those kids can sing. I'm definitely going to check it out when it comes on in November.

Ooooh! Ooooh ! Loved hearing those youngsters finishing up last night with that Freddie Mercury/Queen song! That was a fine, fine version of it. In my wee opinion? Probably the best performance I've heard from them yet. Also: I agree with the observation made earlier, too: they really need to work on the lip synching. It's occasionally just awkwardly off kilter (especially from the guy who plays Finn, eh?). But 'tis a small critique, from my perspective - even though it's crazy noticeable . They'll get better at this as the weeks travel ...

The Queen performance tops 'Don't Stop Believing'. Very well done.

ClaraSue, you get tv shows on your phone?! Wow! What kind of phone do you have? I must say I'm really far behind cellphone-wise... I don't even have a cellphone. Everyone I know has one, but I just haven't needed one so far. Anyway, sorry for the off-topic, it's just that when I read that you could watch the show on your cellphone, it amazed me, lol Oh and I'm still waiting for "Glee"... is starts on November 5th!

"I started a flirtation with a high school flame named Andy. It got weird and I broke it off and two months later Versace was dead."
Best line so far.

Sue Sylvester was on fire last night, wasn't she ? That character is priceless! "Yes, it’s true that I have been trying to destroy your club with a commitment that can only be described as religious. And I’ll tell you why, I don’t trust a man with curly hair ... I can’t stop imagining small birds laying sulfurous eggs in there and it makes me sick." ROFL!

Harumph . What gives on this nonsense?! I bop about all day yesterday, as usually happens on Wednesdays, happily waiting to get my weekly fix of "Glee". And its happy silliness. And the sharp-edged salt of Sue Sylvester. And some more high school girls who never seem to remove their cheerleading outfits, under any circumstances. And a handful of teenaged guys who skip all matters 'health class'. And, yes, after Puck's rather startlingly listenable version of Neil Diamond last week? I was even ready to catch his mohawked self THIS week trying some Bruce Springsteen, maybe? But, no-o-o-o-o . I end up all day waiting for the World Series? I wasn't a bit pleased. Baseball is OK, I realize. But it's not OK enough (nor am I a New Yorker or a Pennsylvanian, o' course, which becomes a definite minus) to pre-empt "Glee". Not a Phillie, not a Yankee. I'm a Gleek, for heavens sakes! So let's get this irksome *America's Favorite Pasttime* business concluded quickly, can we ? Ye Gods, I found myself resorting to tuning in (as much as I could stand of it, at least) to that hot mess of a program "America's Next Top Model" to fill up the gap. And that just ain't right! Just kidding . Baseball's cool. As I heard it said once? There is no crying in (or about) baseball, or something like that. I reckon I'll catch up on hysterical pregnancies and gay field goal kickers next week ...

I need my Glee! I was so bummed about it last week that I tuned in tonight only to remember it's on tomorrow, now I see it may be preempted again, argh!

The break means we get to catch up to you guys Yay! The "Slushee Wars" episode will be on here tomorrow night and then we are up to date. If you are having withdrawals, take a peek at this clip of Sue and Will dancing. It may just make you smile.. (or laugh loudly like I did.)
