This thread is for any questions you would like to see asked in the interviews.

Questions should be general and NOT specific to any person being interviewed.

This is a new idea being tried out, so the interviews are basic right now. All suggestions will be looked at and if possible be included at some point in some interviews.

I don't know if it would be too personal, but I'm always wondering about:

What do you do for a living?

Questions along the lines of which 3 books would you take to a desert island, that can also apply to CDs, sandwich fillings, luxuries, vital necessities to the interviewee (so things for *them* not actual essentials like water), and so on, often make for interesting answers

Dog or cat person (or goldfish or parrot etc.)?

How far do you live from the next supermarket (aka the outback factor)?

Have you ever been elected to anything (team captain, president, cutest baby etc.)?

What pictures/paintings/ornaments do you have on your wall?

What do you have in your home/garden that nobody else has?

Have other people called you weird and if so, why?

When did you benefit most from your trivia knowledge?

I have more if needed

I'm saying this just as a joke, don't take this as a serious suggestion!

Ok, now that I've caveated my question...

Boxers or briefs?

I think it would be nice to know (of quiz authors) what their first quiz was and what inspired them to write it. I think there could be some interesting answers there

I'd like to know more about where people live. Not the country, but the local area.

What we are looking for are questions that reveal the person behind the screen name without getting too personal or banal. I'm sure that posters over on this side of the site can come up with some interesting questions. This topic is still very much in its infancy, so please bear with us whilst we sort out a workable format.

I would suggest that questions ought not require just a one word answer, those are known as 'closed questions', the questions asked by BxBarracuda were good 'open questions'.

{Beagle with Kill Everyone's Fun Hat on}
{Teaches grannies to suck eggs}
Not having a go at anyone, but do please think carefully about the answers you could give to questions like these:

Dog or cat person (or goldfish or parrot etc.)?

My beloved llama FunTrivia, who is never far from my thoughts. (Evil Person : Hmm, might be worth trying FunTrivia as that person's password...)

How far do you live from the next supermarket (aka the outback factor)?

I live five minutes from the first Spar shop to open in Walthamstow (Evil Person can now draw a circle enclosing your house)

Have you ever been elected to anything (team captain, president, cutest baby etc.)?

I am very proud to be Captain of the local Rugby team, we train on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings and play every Saturday and Sunday! (EP now knows times you are likely to be out of the house)

What pictures/paintings/ornaments do you have on your wall?

Oh, a rather nice set of Clarice Cliff teapots bequeathed to me by an aunt, and an original Hockney that I splashed out on with my 7-figure bonus last year. (EP now knows your stuff is worth pinching)

What do you have in your home/garden that nobody else has?

We have the only Victorian gazebo in the county (EP: Bingo! Google Earth will soon pinpoint that!)

Have other people called you weird and if so, why?

Oh yes, when I organised the Poohsticks charity event, nearly eveyone in the village took part (EP: Great, you've put all your neighbours at risk too)
{/TGTSE}

I'm sure nobody here needed that reminder, but we do have some young people on site and IME, some people believe that everything on t'internet is true and evryone has only good intentions. Mostly true, but...

Ok the ornaments/paintings thing was a bit naive . Actually that question started out as "posters of which music band took up the most space in your bedroom when you were a teenager?". That sounded too long and after five minutes of tinkering it came out that way. I never meant to inquire about valuables, just stuff on walls that some are irrationally attached to (I have a map of my home city on my bathroom door and will hurt anyone trying to remove it, go figure )

Quiz_Beagle, what is EP and {/TGTSE}?

Edited to add: IME = In My Experience??

What do you mean by: /Kill Everyone's Fun Hat}

Sorry I'm not so familiar with computer/chat-ese.

June

Quiz Beagle, please add SE to that inquiry. You had it in another thread, and I couldn't figure it out.

Oops, sorry all. (And it's not chatese - more aged sad geek newspeak! ) Okay - having typed Evil Person several times, I shortened it to EP. Unfortunately, less than or greater than symbols don't show up on site, so I use curly brackets {/TGTSE} means - Stop Teaching Grannies To Suck Eggs. IME is indeed In My Experience. Missed a curly bracket out - it should have been {/Kill Everyone's Fun Hat} - meaning that having put it on, I had then taken it off. SE means Social Engineering and is a way that Evil People can get you to reveal details about yourself that could be used for Nefarious Purposes. TriviaPaul, I certainly wasn't getting at you - just trying to make everyone think - and ruining it with too much jargon. Sorry to all.

Okay, before anyone needs to ask, HBD = Happy Beagle Dance. Evidentally something brought over from the chat boards. I already had to ask that in another thread.

Since (private) abbreviations seem to be becoming the norm here, guess I'll need to find another thread where I understand what is being said.

Hey, Jar - I have apologised for using not widely known abbreviations. I thought Jonno's comment was amusing. My .sig expands HBD. I promise not to use anything that wouldn't be understood by anybody on their first day on the net. Okay?

A quote from the Forum FAQ Rules...

Quote:

- Because this is an international site and is used by members of all ages, "teen speak" or "chatspeak" like "wassup", "4", "pls", "u" and other abbreviations and acronyms is not appropriate. For many of our users, English is not a first language.

People ought not have to work out what is meant, we ought to just be able to read it.

Thanks.

What do you like to do apart from trivia in your spare time?

How did you get your screen name here and what meaning does it have for you?

What is your favorite type of quiz on this site and why?

Sue

Second interview is underway, it is with Gatsby722. Suggestions from here have been incorporated into the interview questions, but not word for word.

Whew ! May I add, here, that I'm finding this interview rather difficult. Not 'painfully' so --- but just harder than I'd expected. I'm trying to make the answers at least a little interesting, but am not sure I'm being successful. I look forward to seeing how the ones in the future go !

Ye Gods, I'm now completely convinced that I'm truly as interesting as a box of rocks . Big, especially dreary rocks, to boot (sigh) ...

All of us here know that when Gats and rocks are in the same sentence, rocks is a verb, not a noun.
