Hi, richimishra. Whenever you make any changes to the quiz or hit "save", it sends your quiz back to the end of the queue. It looks like you updated it a few days ago.

In addition, you were advised of some particular issues with your quiz when you last submitted it, and it does not look like you have been able to fix the problems that were mentioned.

Is this true? If I'm waiting in a queue I sometimes click on edit just to check whether an editor has been busy making any minor adjustments. Or I go through edit and save to get to the preview screen and recheck the quiz details. I do this because the guidelines say that you can edit after submission and don't mention anything about being penalised. Are you telling me that in so doing I'm actually delaying my quiz?

Yes, though I don't think the point is penalization. The fact that quizzes that have been changed go to the end of the queue has been mentioned in the threads on this section of the site many times, so I am glad you found it. It actually makes sense that if someone makes changes to a quiz it should reorder itself, if only to call attention to the fact that something has changed. Of course, once the quiz has started being edited, it normally gets more attention from the editor(s) who began the process to help it along its way to approval.

Thanks Sue.

Just to be doubly certain... Does that also apply if the edit/save function has been applied but no changes have been made to the quiz?

Yes, whenever you hit save, the counter of how long it's been in the queue restarts. If you click on edit, just look at things, and don't save, it will not go back to the bottom.

GG is absolutely right.

This matters less in the smaller categories - if there are only three quizzes in the queue, going back to the end of the line doesn't mean too much. In the larger categories, where the queue sometimes goes onto a second page, it can make a big difference.

If you make changes to your quiz while it is in the queue the result is likely to be delay. If you simply want to have a look at your submission, click on 'Back' (not on 'Save') when you've finished.

Clicking on 'Save' when a quiz is in the queue sends it back to the bottom. This is automatic and not intended as a penalty.

Ouch! That would explain some of my longer waits as the longer a quiz has been in the more temptation there's been to have a look at it and once I pressed edit then I always pressed save lest an editor think I was still editing.

I appreciate this may have been done to death in the forums but I'm not a regular forum reader and only came upon this thread because a team mate raised it on our message board. Should this not be made clear in the submission instructions? To me, saying that you can edit after submitting conveys exactly the opposite impression. Or have I missed something in the small print?

Ah, Funtrivia is not so much a product as a process. The intention is always there to update all parts of the site whenever things change, but sometimes it falls through in the execution. "Gotta rewrite that" gets put on the to-do list, but day to day operations get in the way, and it gets forgotten.

I have a feeling the "blurb" has changed recently, along with all the other expansion of information during the process of making a template and then a quiz, and this is now mentioned. It's not in big red letters or anything, but it is there. That said, it took me a while to notice it, as I tend to know what to do and where I want the quiz and so on; with someone making one of their first quizzes it's probably (hopefully!) more noticeable.

If you want your quiz to go online quickly the 'golden rule' is: 'Once you've submitted your quiz, don't fiddle with it (unless you really must)'.

This is certainly interesting. I've played many a quiz but have only just recently written any. Therefore, I understandably wouldn't have noticed this kind of information.

Something that confangles me is that if I want to look at my quiz, I can only go to "Edit" instead of being able to go straight to "Review" or "Preview," whatever it says. Scared to touch it now!

So, to see it without fiddling with it, go to "Edit," click "Preview," which opens in another tab or window, and then back out of the quiz template?

PS My very limited experience with editors Pagiedamon, Bruyere, and Snowman has been very pleasant; I appreciate their work and styles.

Sure, that would work just fine. That way you see the quiz as it appears to players. Viewing that page doesn't affect the queue placement in any way.

Or just look at your quiz in template - as long as you don't hit "save" nothing changes. Just always remember to back out, unless you find something that really does need to be changed. Then, of course, make the change and save it, because the editor would be sending the quiz back to you anyway because of the problem.

Ok now I'm confused lol - there's a way to see the preview screen without saving the quiz first??? I do hope so

Oh, gee, my bad, sorry. Editors can, but you guys can't. I just went onto my daughter's account to check, and you don't have that link.

So, yes Row, you're right and I'm wrong - you can only get to the Review Quiz link by saving the quiz, which you don't want to do.

Nevertheless, you can preview the quiz right after you submit it for the first time, with no loss to your queue status.

This may be blindingly obvious to others but what I do now is to save the preview screen to my hard drive once I've submitted the quiz so that I can always refer back to it if I need to.

I submitted one about an hour ago, how long should I expect before it is reviewed?

It depends on which category but it usually takes at least a couple of days.
If you get feedback sooner, all the better!

I got feedback about 3 hours later... pretty good, I think it is a slow category.

But I submitted it again right away and haven't heard since

If it was feedback from Nightmare that you got after 3 hours then we need to see senior management, this is a dramatic fall in standards from Nightmare's usual 15 minutes. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am...genuinely Nightmare! You need to be quicker!
