I don't usually have lows, but sometimes they sneak up on you. My little great-nephew, Elliot, is only seven weeks old, and has had a skin irritation for about two weeks now, and although my niece has been to the doctors four times (this between moving into a new house!) the doctors did not seem concerned. Elliot was very unsettled indeed this morning, so went back to the doctors. At the moment, he's in hospital having lots of tests. So far the blood tests have come back clear - which is good and bad. It's good that's there's nothing wrong, but we don't know what's wrong with him. He's also had a lumbar puncture to rule out menegitis. He'll be in hospotal for a few days, but he's in the best place. and we're all sure he'll be OK Edited to change title

So sorry to hear Elliot is in distress! Skin irritations are one of the hardest things to get relief from...Since the skin is always touching something! Hope you get good results, soon.

Good wishes by the truckload, coming your way! Two weeks in misery, four (5) doctor visits...I wonder why it took so long to get a diagnosis? That is a shame. I'm sure he'll be fine though. Back to good health in no time!

Jane, you are right, not knowing is the hardest though I'm not sure knowing is any easier. It sounds as if he's already responding well to treatment; please know your family is in my thoughts.
Would this qualify as an acceptable Red Cross issue that might bring his daddy home sooner?

It's bad when adults get sick, worse when it's a baby. I'm sorry Elliot is ill. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and your family, Jane. Plus I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Oh my goodness, Jane, what a worry! I'm so glad Elliot is showing a positive response to the antibiotics, a big relief to the whole family, I'm sure.
All good wishes your way, and to Elliot and his parents. Please keep us updated on his progress.

It sounds like the antibiotics are working from what you said Jane. Let's hope it continues.
I had a cold call last week from a company offering to find cheap home insurance. I don't usually trust any of those guys but wanted to know how much I could save, and they emailed me the quote. I called my own company, as I heard if you get a better quote many places drop their own, and I saved over £100! That is one good result, it's cost me thousands since I moved in with one claim half was lost on the excess as so small, so is a very small difference to them and big saving for me.

Well, it was confirmed last night that Eliot does has meningitis, but they don't know which strain. He's still in hospital, but the Doctors aren't too concerned. We should know which strain tomorrow. His daddy is out in Afghanistan, but at the hospital with my niece at the moment. They are also treating hin for circulation, as he was very cold and "shutting down" yesterday when he was taken in, so thank goodness he went into hospital when he did or it might have been a different story. My cousin also had meningitis when he was only nine weeks old, and now he's 23, and a policeman, so it shows people do survive meningitis. Thanks everybody, for all your support

Sounds like the lad is well on his way to feeling better, Jane. Definitely good news . Interesting, too -- we had a family friend with a little baby that had a case of meningitis some years ago. Last I heard he was a hale and hearty college athlete in Florida!

Thanks for the update, Jane. Glad to hear Elliot was taken in in time. He should be out in no time if he continues to do so well. Continued best wishes!

He had his operation last night, and he's doing fine. Even better he may be coming home tomorrow - the doctors will have to come once a day to give him the drugs but all the good wishes from all over the world seems to be working. Keep it up! (And isn't he lucky to have his own thread? )

Ohmigosh! Just reading about this now (where have I been?). So very glad that by the time I saw this thread, everything was looking good. And, yes, someday Auntie Jane will pass around his very first forum thread at a family gathering... maybe for his 13th birthday (teenagers dislike that sort of thing LOL)
