I was shocked about Guiding Light, too. You'd think that after 72 years, it would have been enduring enough to be worth saving at any cost.
I started watching this show as a small child due to my grandmother watching it every day. Being forced to attend school all afternoon put a stop to that pretty soon. I started taping it in the early 80's when I got my hands on this amazing new technology called a VCR. As an adult, though, I found I just didn't have 5 hours a week to devote to it, so I've rarely seen it over lo these many years. I did try to keep up with the characters in a vague way -- some of them I've "known" my almost my whole life.
Now, all we can to is pretend these folks all lived happily ever after (no kidnappings, no presumed deaths, no extramarital affairs), which would never, ever happen in Springfield! (By my count, Mindy Lewis alone has been kidnapped 5 times.)
But I'm sure there's not a GL fan on the planet who didn't want to see Josh and Reva ride off into the sunset in the final scene. I guess we'll have to be happy and satisfied with that!
