Former Manson disciple Susan Atkins has died in jail. She was suffering from a brain tumour. Atkins held in prison since 1969 for her part in the murder of Sharon Tate and others. Was held in Casntral Californias Women's facility at Chjowilla.

Will the famiulies of her victims find peace at last i sincerly hope so.

You mean they didn't let her out on humanitarian grounds?

Sorry, I am being facetious, I do not belong to the school of thought that compassion should be shown to terminally ill people who have murdered others.

I sincerely hope the families and friends of her victims can have closure.

I agree with you Sue people who took the lives of others should never be released, on compassionate grounds.

I recall when the last attempt was made emailing the Terminator oops Governer Arnie to object to her release.

I for one believe the two who murdered Jamie Bulger should still be behind bars, and not walking free.

I gave the article, that explained the case and reported that she had again been refused compassionate release, to a group of students for their comment. When they had read the details of the murders and realised what evil she had committed(for instance refusing to save Sharon Tate's eight and half month old unborn baby) they all said she should not be released.

Perhaps she'd be alive if they'd let her out. Funny how all the other people who have been released on humanitarian grounds recently have risen like Lazarus. Ernest Saunders was even cured of his dementia.

Slight digression for anyone who was wondering about Ronnie Biggs, who was at death's door when he was "allowed home to die."

Not looking too bad, considering - is he?

It seems to me, that 'life in prison' means exactly that -- life in prison!

What about the Lockerbee bomber, released from prison in Scotland and greeted like a hero in Libya? Does that make sense?
