Paul, you may be interested in this thread I posted some time back in the FT lounge about the history of Kodachrome. Some great photos of old cars in there, as well as photos of the Great Depression.

So many lovely pictures. Kitties, bugs, spiders, market places, ferries, beautiful English homes, interesting signs, colorful gardens and cool beaches. Such wonderful variety. I don't have a flying goat, but did find a bounding antelope.

Thank you, MadMags, that's a wonderful site. I recognize some of the shots from the amazing Kodachrome collection in the Cushman Archive. Some of the others are in the Library of Congress collections, a number of which have been posted in high-resolution on The Shorpy Blog. Speaking of Shorpy, I've submitted a lot of my old family photos and slides there under the username tterrace, so many they've assigned me my own gallery. Thanks again for pointing me to that site; I'm bookmarking it.

I looked at some of the photos you've posted on there, Paul, and I have to say they are just lovely You get a very good sense of the American way of life looking at them. And the quality is amazing. Beautiful pictures.

Some of you may recognise this monument, shot through the glass panels of the Peace Monument. 'Peace' is written on it in many different languages, and it's at the extreme end of the gardens at the base of the Eiffel Tower.

TW, that's the same toadstool but further along in its development. Prompted by your postings, I did a little research on this mushroom that has fascinated me since I was a child. Something I didn't know until today - apparently it IS eaten as food in some parts of Europe, Asia and North America, after parboiling in water. (info from wiki) I'd always thought this mushroom was highly poisonous, apparently not. It's also been used in religious ceremonies in Siberia, due to its psychoactive properties. I still think it's one of the prettiest mushrooms around. Thanks for posting.

This is the White Nanny that hangs around with Hindu. I'm pretty sure she is in kid (Hindu is too) so will be fun to see if she does have one. She's getting very quiet - can't pat her yet but she will eat out of hand.

Could pictures of toadstools be thought of as poor (spore) photos?

Waiting the metro station close to Notre Dame, this panel gives you a very accurate estimate of the time before the next train arrives.

I always thought that Toadstools were 'made up' for story books. I have never seen such colourful ones! Great pictures everyone.

Paul's photos from bygone times inspired me to scan and post this historic photo. I took this with my Kodak Instamatic camera when I was just a kid. The original photo is a small square black-and-white photo with way too much sky (which I have cropped out).

This photo was taken on October 31st 1969. Goodness, in less than a week's time, that will be 40 years ago! The men in the open limousine are the astronauts Edwin Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins during their world tour after the moon landing. They were being driven from the Perth airport to the city and practically passed by our house. A real Kodak moment!

I was one week old that day, MG Certainly doesn't feel like 40 years ago to me!!!

As I was looking at my Australia photos for the theme this week (thread needs to be stickied - halfway down page!) I thought I'd post one on here as well. This is a buff-banded rail in Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens (unfortunately I chopped off his tail).
