Any members in Sydney, or able to get here, are invited to a bit of a Christmas shindig, which will probably be held on Friday, December 18th. As seems to be the custom, we have an overseas visitor who wants to see more of Sydney than the Bridge and the Opera House. I have told him to bring his Canadian to English phrasebook, so that he may communicate with us. We may also have a couple of interstate visitors, too. Venue has yet to be decided, and I am open to suggestions. Because of the proximity to Christmas, a 'formal' function may be difficult to arrange. Star City Casino has been the locale of a couple of these dos, but it is a bit restrictive with a large group. Feel free to post any question/suggestions/acceptances, etc in here, or as a PM to myself. Cheers, ozzz2002

This is a nice idea Ozz - and this time I've actually seen it in time to note my calendar! I don't have a venue suggestion but would love to come so I'll watch this space!

OOoh I can still taste the lamb chops from the restaurant we went to at the harbour! Oh I am green with envy at all of you!

That's just sickening, really and truly horrible!!! Here I am all ready to meet you all, and I just happen to be on the (cold, wet, and windy) other side of the continent whilst you fortunate souls are going to hang out drinking beer under the sunny skies, complaining about the heat and humidity whilst getting merrily tipsy together! I think I'll lodge a compaint - who knows where the after-signing-up-service is located??? I'm not even going to poke my nose into this discussion after today!!! You are all just too lucky to be getting together for a blast of a time just before Christmas!!!

As our guest speaks French, and you two ladies live in or near France, I would suggest that you both cancel all plans, and jump on a plane, toot sweet! It will be my pleasure to buy you lunch, and a couple of beers to wash it down with. We will try to keep the temperature down, too. How does a nice, warm 30C sound?

What about Oscars? It held all of us very nicely and if we book ahead - their dining area is very generous size wise and reasonable. Booking the venue soon might make sense.
Just a thought.

Nannanut's suggestion of Oscar's at Pyrmont is spot on. We had a great time when we were last there. Check it out here. I can book it, but will need to know an approximate number of guests.

I would love to meet you all but I am in Perth with absolutely no chance of making it to Sydney at that time Have a drink for me though

They put up with us last time, Jill. I am sure we can hide you away somewhere.. The Mercantile is only a 5-minute walk from Oscars, too! Nothing says we have to stay in one location.

Alas, it's a terrible time to have it for me. Between work and cricket (actually, cricket and work. Let's get the priorities right!), I'm pretty well stuffed.
We could be up for another get-together when Leau comes out again though...

The way that time is going this is going to sneak up quickly!
There is a chance that I may not be able to do the night time but if that happens will anyone be up for lunch or an arvo something?
