Agony, those numbers are impossible! Minus 52? Why would anyone live there?

Converting to F, -52 is -62!

And I thought it WAS Fahrenheit! Brass monkeys would cringe.

It very rarely drops below zero C here, and I am eternally grateful for that.

At -40, they are one and the same. Above -40, F is higher, and below, C is closer to 0.

This morning, the red in my thermometer was hiding behind the staple at the bottom, but I think it reads minus 38 C. The smoke from the chimney of the house across the alley is lying at the horizontal, so winds are brisk. I am not going outside.

So, yes, I'd really like to go to Sydney. I hope you guys have a wonderful time. I'm probably fooling myself, but 42 above sounds just heavenly, rather than the other way.

I remember when I went to Oz... when the plane landed two hulking men got on and walked down the aisles spraying everyone and everything to kill all the bugs we innocent travellers might have about our persons.

I switched planes and when I arrived in Canberra my friends were waiting for me. Did they say "hello" or "we're so glad you're here" or "was it a good flight"? Nope... they sprayed me. Only this time it was to stop Aussie bugs landing on me!

48 hours lads and lassies, and you guys better be prepared!

If there's a problem understanding, I will step in as a translator. I've had experience with the many varieties of English here as a TA. If I could muddle through the Carib English, Liverpudlian English, and Delhi English, I can certainly understand Australians.

I did a fly analysis while I was there. In Canberra the flies are large but just a nuisance - they have politicians for the really evil stuff. In Melbourne, the flies are friendly and like to land on you for a hug. But in Adelaide, the flies are so lonely they try to hide themselves away, right up your nose! Not to mention any other available orifice...

And in Sydney? Well, by the time I got there I had perfected the habit of the locals... the Great Australian Wave. We all think you're such a friendly lot, waving at everyone all the time - but I know that really you're just swatting flies!

Excited? umm a Little Bit!

I'm sorry you can't come too Copago!
Have you had any rain? We've had 25m the last 48 hours and it's still cloudy - but I'm not holding my breath!

Rain predicted on the tail of the cyclone off WA - right across the country.
Hope you guys benefit!

MH,
You sound so excited you'd think you were the one catching a plane... and yes I am catching Virgin so hopefully they will have all of their messes sorted out. I've never had any problems before but there's always a first time for everything.
I just hope we live up to your expectations.

I am really looking forward to meeting all of you. Hopefully, after a few schooners, there won't be any problem understanding my Canadian English... by that time it will sound almost Irish!

Exit, catching planes are the Last thing I'd be excited about! Just as well I'm already 'here'!

Yes still a day or so for Mr Branson's Pet Planes to get their act together. Apparently the computer glitch is now fixed - they're just waiting for enough planes to 'fix' the people who had a free overnight holiday!

As far as living up to My expectations: I expect you'll all be happy, fun people up for a Party!
