My first thought was that at some point there was an upper deck, perhaps a wooden one. Upon further examination however, it looks like there has been brick replacement all the way down on both sides, suggesting that the house had an upper floor room, and some sort of room or storage area below. Perhaps it was demolished for the same reason that the house is cracking now - ground settling.

It's only a hut containing the local electricity supply, but besides falling down may well still be in use or they'd have got rid of it. I could ask them if I really had to but probably had steps until they decided not to use the back door. Or they're just potty...

It may have been a small home before the electric company bought it. Why not ask them?

This bust was labelled 'G. Verdi' & I saw it in the town of Riva Del Garda. (Tell me if I'm milking this trip to Italy too much won't you? )
I'm assuming it is actually Giuseppi Verdi himself, he certainly had links to the area. Either way, he seems to be looking down at where his body used to be. I wonder if he wrote the music to 'I Ain't Got No Body'?

A sure sign that Christmas is near has always been the sight of real Christmas trees for sale! This truck load was arriving at my local plaza, and as I walked by those already on display the wonderful "Christmas tree smell" took me back to my childhood!

My absence in this forum over the past few weeks is because I've been without a camera as the old one is broken. Now I have a new Canon. It's only a point and shoot but that's all I can handle, being a bit of a klutz!

In the Purple thread, I posted a photo of a piece of Aboriginal artwork featuring a goanna. Here is the goanna again - this time on the side of our new AMA Indigenous Initiatives van.

Mags - wow that dew photo is absolutely amazing, and that pretty yellow flower stands out beautifully with the green background.

Paul - Those leaves have a gorgeous color.

Liz - Seeing that you have so many REAL Christmas trees down your way, could you please send me one over - I have forgotten what they even smell like.

We were able to get real trees as the wonderful Spanish people would bring in some really scrawny things for us Americans at the base, and many would hang them upside down from the ceiling owing to lack of space.

This is the dog cemetery at Portmeirion in North Wales. Rather difficult to find amongst the miles of pathways that wind through the woodland around the village, but very interesting.

This subway has been nicely decorated by Hounslow council

Another one of my straight roads, this was taken from the railway bridge by Kew Gardens station and the road follows the rails, where the builders had no trouble getting them made in a straight line unlike our main roads.

They must have put a lot of thought into naming this bar in Italy...

It's better than a pub with no beer!
