What are you afraid of?

Here's my list...
Achluophobia- Fear of darkness.
Acrophobia- Fear of heights.
Aeroacrophobia- Fear of open high places.
Amaxophobia- Fear of riding in a car.
Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders.
Asthenophobia- Fear of fainting or weakness.
Catoptrophobia- Fear of mirrors. (In the dark, thanks to a certain urban legend.)
Claustrophobia- Fear of confined spaces.
Cleisiophobia- Fear of being locked in an enclosed place.
Coulrophobia- Fear of clowns.( Actually anyone in a mask or with a painted face.)
Demophobia- Fear of crowds.
Gephysrophobia- Fear of crossing bridges. (Long ones, usually suspension bridges.)
Phasmophobia- Fear of ghosts.
Social Phobia- Fear of being evaluated negatively in social situations.

You don't have to be as fancy as me, I was bored when I made the list, but I am curious to see what others are afraid of, especially after reading through the list of phobias and seeing some that would seem ridiculous to me, but then my husband thinks my fear of spiders is ridiculous.

Hmm...I have a minor fear of heights, and a fairly major fear of needles, pins, or general spiky things (HATE static electricity)

And I'm pretty sure my boyfriend has Social Phobia, mostly due to years of being ashamed of his weight. He's trying to get a job and finds even the thought of going and handing in his resume rather daunting.

Snakes, and to a certain degree cockroaches. (actually to 100 degrees. I scream when I see one.) But that is all.

Not much, really...

Large bugs
Turning left in traffic

I don't like clowns, but I don't fear them.

Terrified of flying insects and in particular daddy-longlegs, moths and flying ants.

The thought of living dependent on others for my day to day care fills me with dread, I really wouldn't wish to live. I have made a living will stating that I do not wish to be kept alive if my quality of life is appalling and isn't likely to improve.

I am terrified of bees, wasps and "flying critters", so I avoid having meals/drinks outside where-ever possible. Injections, I am also terrified of, but ever so slowly getting used to them when I need to have them. Thankfully, I don't have them all that often. And as Mum grows older, I suppose I fear the future, "on my own", but a reassuring point is that my sister is right next door.

Bugs (especially flying ones), spiders (especially big ones), heights, enclosed spaces, mirrors in the dark, the dark in general, dying, being a failure.
And they're just the main ones...

My main fear is of illness, then getting ill when away from home. When it does happen I go into a major panic and makes whatever is wrong even worse. Besides that it's getting invited to sit down affairs when you're shut in a room for hours with crowds of people. And now I'm big enough to say no sometimes I fear upsetting people when I do. Maybe I should live on an island, none of that could happen there.

Is there a particular word for the fear of car crashes? I know the fear of riding in a car(Amaxophobia), but I don't mind that so much as I'm scared of the accidents. I think I have a minor case of PTSD from an accident a few years back lol.

But my 'always was and probably always will be' fear is a fear of house fires. I even worked at a job where we did fire restoration to recover what we could from house fires for people whose houses burned down but I still have a major fear of house fires. And not because of losing my items I am just scared of losing my self and my pets. Hopefully I can get myself and my friends and my cat out but the fish tank might pose a problem.

Those are my two main fears, I hate needles and doctors but as I got older they got easier because a needle to find out why I felt like I was dying is a lot less painful then wondering if I really was dying!

Quicksand. I have no idea why, and have never been around it in real life. But the thought of being around it or in it makes me shudder.

I seem to be developing a slight fear of heights as I get older: I won't walk near a cliff edge these days. But the thing that really scares me is climbing a ladder, especially out of doors. Is there a word for that?

I have a fear of daddy longleg spiders. I will run screaming the other way if I see one. Other spiders don't bother me a bit; in fact, I love to watch them. And I fear the day I will lose a loved one. I'm not afraid of death for myself, but I fear the devastation I will experience if or when anybody dies before I do.

I don't have a fear of riding in cars, or fear of crashing, but I do have a major problem riding with other people. If I can't do the driving, I don't go! On the rare occasion that I have to ride with someone I panic. Shakes, sweats, white knuckles holding the door. Same goes for having passengers when I'm driving.

Sue dear, avert your eyes. I've just learned with my little students that a cockroach can live for up to a week without his head.

I'm afraid of deep water as I'm not a good swimmer.

I'm afraid of losing my house.

Mild Claustrophobia.

Though I made my living essentially as a teacher in front of large groups of students, the fear of public speaking is always there and makes my heart race, but then, I usually can manage to calm it down. I think I got up to a group of five hundred once as a guest lecturer.

spiders...ew...I'm not as afraid of them as some. My mother revered them. Yeah, she did!

That's my problem, it drives my family (especially my husband) crazy.

There is more or less, I checked first and found ladders are incredibly common phobias, as many hypnotists used it as an example they can treat in their online ads. Then I found climacophobia which is a fear of climbing, which of course includes ladders.
climacophobia

I froze completely on an open wood staircase when I was about 6 but simply because I suddenly realised the gaps were so big it looked like I could fall through. It seemed like ages before my father came along and removed me after sitting and asking me what was wrong. I don't mind ladders up to a point (preferably with the prop built in) but when I had to fiddle with the burglar alarm at work for the engineer I found my limit when I reached the second story of the building and stopped dead. And that was just the basic ladder so no legs to hold it up.

Yup this is my biggest fear relating to car crashes, when I got in the crash that set this off in my mind I had a friend with me that if I would have been hit 5 seconds earlier or 5 seconds later she could have possibly died,(the cops told me that and i wish they never told me that) so it is a very real feeling to me to know that we were very lucky to make it out safely and unharmed. so Yes I don't worry so much about me alone in a car, but passengers with me scare me and riding with others ugh! (my dad scared me today, a car passed us in a no passing zone so my dad got upset and sped up to follow him and although my dad taught me to drive it still scared me some because it is snowy and icy outside. and I'm an adult not a kid so my dad's not young so that added to the fear factor LOL I wish there was a way to unscare me but that original accident was enough to mess me up and I was the one who as a teenager would drive around nonstop and always was in a car!
