I have been wondering this for along time and it annoys me to know end that almost everyone or everywhere you go to eat you have to ask for NO ONIONS! I am annoyed that everyone thinks that everyone loves them.

When I was ill and in the hospital I had to turn away three different meals as they included onions.

I love Egg salad sandwiches but not with onions.

Is there a food or a condiment that you just can't stomach that annoys you that others think we should all love?

Oh mustard and tomato ketchup. They both make me feel ill, and I always have to ask for sandwiches to be made without. I also cannot understand why pickled onions are so popular. Yuk! I do not want one of those with my ploughman's or my salad, thanks.

OK, Ren beat me to it. Mustard and ketchup never touch my sandwiches if I can help it.

You will never ever find Miracle Whip, sweet pickles, or sweet relish in my fridge.

Ketchup, onions, all kinds of mustard....mmm mmm mmm! But the ketchup has to be on the side for dipping. Somehow it tastes better that way.

I don't do ketchup, but love all kinds of mustard. Mayo, but NEVER Miracle Whip.
Pimentos. I hate that they are in everything! I don't hate the taste, because there isn't one. I just hate seeing them!

Hot sauce, or hot peppers, don't do either of those.

To me, I get more annoyed when people think I'm crazy for not wanting more condiments on what I'm ordering. It's not that I dislike each individual things, but I generally keep things pretty simple. I used to get bacon-and-egg sandwiches every now and then at my old job, in the diner in the building, and they'd ask me what else I want on it:

"I'll have just butter on the bread, and a couple slices of tomato, please."
"That's it?"
"That's it."
"You don't want mayo?"
"No, just butter."
"Lettuce?"
"No, thanks."
"Onion?"
"No..."
"Okay..." *gives me a look like I'm out of my mind, and makes my boring sandwich*

I go through much the same routine at places like Harvey's, where you tell them exactly what you want on your burger. Subway is another place this happens a lot. It's not that I have anything particularly against green peppers or mushrooms or cucumbers, I just don't want them right now on this particular sandwich!

Garlic. I don't like garlic at all but I know it's very popular. On the cooking channel, most if not all chefs always add garlic to their meals. I know it's good for you and it adds flavor to the food, but I really don't like it.

Each condiment has it's place. I'll eat them all at some stage or another. Steak just isn't right without French mustard. Hot chips aren't right without tomatoe sauce and so on.

What is Miracle WHip? I thought it was a canned cream thing but sounds like a mayo substitute?
And I've never heard on Pimentos either?

Miracle Whip is kinda like *sweetened* mayonnaise, Copago. I, personally, like it (but it usually gets a bad rap by folks over here --- some say it's salad dressing ... and that even calling it mayonnaise is next-to-criminal, or something equally passionate).
For me, I l. o. v. e. onions, ketchup, mustard (all kinds). All that junk that makes a sandwich either too drippy or offensive to the nose . The only weird thing with me (in terms of sandwiches, I mean ... in other matters, my 'weird list' seems rather endless) is that on a hot sandwich? I'm way cool with one tomato slice slapped on there. On a cold one, however. Tomatoes are a complete no-no. I'm the same with ketchup (or tomato sauce). Good on burgers, but bad (bad, bad) on, say, a cold ham or bologna sandwich ...

Miracle Whip is a sweet type of mayo, or 'salad dressing.' It comes in a jar, and is made by Kraft, I believe.

Pimentos are red peppers, (also sweet) of some kind. You see them stuffed in green olives a lot.

Ketchup, lettuce, brown mustard.

I know it's not a condiment, but it annoys me when I order a slice of pie or cake or a brownie with ice cream, and there are nuts in it, with no kind of warning anywhere in the restaurant that there may be nuts and the waitress has no idea that they are in there. I still wonder how this could be legal with all the "Warning may contain..." packaging going on.

Mayo -
Grey Poupon

I prefer Miracle Whip. There's just something about it that makes it tastier, to me. I just imagine eggs and oil mixed together, and yucko! I watched mayonnaise being made on a cooking channel once and wondered how people eat that much fat and cholesterol at one time. By the way, I do use the reduced fat Miracle Whip. It's fine (if I mix it with something else.....) Bottom line is, I don't eat that much spread on sandwiches any more. (Just cannot abide mayo!)

My other thing is restaurants that put onions on my salad. Anyone who is eating with me gets all the onions from my salad. I agree with you Agony (and by the way, it's great to see you back) about the onions. They are not everyone's cup 'o tea!

No olives or mushrooms on pizza PLEASE!
I cant stand either of them yet nearly every pizza you can get has either or both of the two on them.
It annoys me even more when the shop tries to charge me for having extra pineapple when I have just asked them to remove mushrooms and olives. Cheeky so-and-so's...

Someone was looking for Miracle Whip the other day at work...I'm not even sure if we sell it.

But yeah, I always have to ask for no mayonnaise. It seems it's default on most sandwiches. Really annoys me when my chicken and avocado sandwich is in the canteen, but it has mayo on it

It drives me crazy that it is so difficult to buy a ready made sandwich without something like mayonnaise, mustard pickle or something else being added.

I don't like mayonnaise, tomato sauce/ketchup, mustard, salad dressing etc. When I order food in a restaurant which might have salad or be garnished with salad I have to say no coleslaw, potato salad, dressing etc.

Ooh MollyGrue's post reminded me of something else I dislike - ice cream served with pie or cake! I love ice cream, but I just don't want it with on the side of something else, especially if the other thing is warm. It just ends up melting the ice cream and the melted ice cream makes the cake soggy. No, thanks. It's another thing that makes people look at me like I'm crazy when I ask for no ice cream on the side. Even family members at lunches or other functions, serving dessert.

"I don't want any ice cream, please."
"But... You have to have ice cream!"
"Er, no I don't, actually..."

I'm the exact opposite with ice cream. Can't stand it, but can eat it with cake.

Mushrooms remind me of slugs, and I don't want either on my pizza.

I'm that same way. Everyone thinks I am crazy at birthday parties because I'll except the cake or the ice cream but never both on one plate. The soggy cake makes my tongue feel weird and spooks me.

I also agree they put way too many onions in or on everything lately, I don't mind a few onions but find myself more often just asking for no onions to avoid the picking them out part.

beets
peanut butter and jelly
honey baked ham (I don't think meat should be sweet)

Everything else I'm okay with!

I don't mind honey -baked ham, but why cover it in pineapple rings and cherries. Yuk. I also detest the way the local restaurants put pineapple in Pizza and fruit in salad. Fruit salad yes. In potato salad. No,no, no. Whoever thought up the abomination called Hawaian Pizza? Ewk.

A boyfriend's mother once made ham gravy, it looked like regular chicken gravy to me so I poured it on my mashed potatoes like they did, UGH!, it was like sugary syrup, ick!

Sweetcorn. It seems to be becoming de rigeur here in tuna sandwiches (No!), salads and pizzas. No, no, no! Oh, and if there's lettuce on the sandwich - do not toast it. There is no reason on earth for hot lettuce! (They served me braised lettuce once in Tunisia, I did not eat it)
