Well well, first of the decade!

Hampstead Heath was very popular today as we actually had some nice (although freezing) weather.

White lion and lioness (we fed them too). The National Zoo at Canberra has several white lions (eight I think) which are nicknamed "the brat pack". White lions are thought to be extinct in the wild.

Beautiful animals, MotherGoose. I really liked the colourful houses in the previous thread, Mags.

Here's a rare, colourful building in Mumbai, almost hidden by the trees.

I love the lions, and that is a lovely blue building.

It was rather a grey New Year's Day, but mild and just right for going for a walk. This building isn't so colourful, but it has plenty of Christmas decorations! The little lighthouse (between the two doors) is there all year, as is the flag.

Countryside is the same here wherever you are, and starts right here 9 miles from the centre of London in Mill Hill

A red hot air balloon is a great contrast to the stormy sky.

Anyone want to buy a house in Twickenham? Apart from me that is?

I think I'd rather own this cottage in Portmeirion. It's called 'Mermaid' & we stayed there the first time I went there, in 2007. It's a lovely little place, right in the middle of the central area.

More modernism from Twickenham. Modern architecture is based on the original modernism which is from the beginning of the 20th century in Germany. Post modern is accurate as if it looks old or different but follows the modern period, then it's dropped the modern style for something more recent whatever it looks like.
I like Portmeirion as well though, if you design somewhere properly instead of just to sell as many cheap houses as possible you can tell the difference.



This is the ocean liner effect as well.

MotherGoose, I'm enjoying the trip around the zoo with you. Sounds like all the animals were well fed by the time you left!

Well, since some here have expressed an interest in the colours of Orosi, I thought I'd post another green house photo, taken this afternoon. (Just shout when you've had enough! Hehehe)

This green house is a little more subdued than the last, yet still bright and cheerful. I really like the palm trees in this shot.
The nice thing about side streets? You can stand in the middle of the road for a shot with less chance of getting hit by a car, bicycle, motorbike or horse. (Vehicles here never ever ever give way to a pedestrian. Ever. They are maniac drivers.)

For a contrast, here's a wintry side street, taken this afternoon whilst standing in front of my house.

Our back garden this morning, taken from the bedroom window. Some of England has got it a lot worse than this!

"Hey, do I have anything stuck in my teeth?"

This is Amber. She lifts her lips on command in her version of a smile. She's my dad's Yellow Lab.

This brightly coloured sign announces that Orosi's natural hot springs swimming pool is open every day, closed Tuesdays. The open-air pool is located at the edge of town, at the foot of one of our many mountains.

The sign has been installed right slap dab behind a power pole, thus making it difficult to get a photo.
