Learning the ropes...

Hi, I am the father of damnsuicidalroos.
I have become a member of the Fun Trivia Forum just so I could advise his friends
on the forum that roos passed away on 8th. January, 2010 after 12 months of terrible suffering. He was in hospital for the last 6 weeks of his life. I think he may have done one posting from hospital. He loved communicating with the community he met on Fun Trivia and I thank you all for the friendship and interest you gave him. I have been reading the many postings my son has made to your forum and others and I believe I am gaining a better insight into his views on the many subjects he contributed
to. We are all still coming to terms with the loss of our son, husband, brother and friend but reading his thoughts on the forum has opened up another aspect of his life, as it were,a diary of his thoughts, that enriches and enlightens us further into what he was, and even though it makes emotional reading, we are grateful that we have this additional element illustrating in words his character and intellect. Roos fought valiantly to the very end to stay with his wife and family but it was always an impossible battle to win and he passed on gently and peacefully with his family around him. Our love to all his friends.

Idad,

That is tragic news and our sympathies are with you and your family. Roos was a very funny man and was well thought of by all members of the FunTrivia community. Even his handle brought a smile to the dial. He will be sorely missed.

Regards,
Greg

I am so so sorry for your loss.

Your son was a wonderful person, he will be sorely missed on this site.

On a personal level his kindness to me will never be forgotten. In 2005 when I was very ill and in hospital a beautiful bouquet of flowers arrived together with a teddy bear from your son. The message from him was that when your granddaughter didn't feel well she cuddled her teddy so was sending me one to cuddle to make me feel better. The bear sits in this room and is much cherished.

I am not sure if you are aware that he has authored some quizzes on this site, they are, with their numbers...

The Galapagos Islands - 185118
That Island With All The Big Heads On It - 159584
Rudyard Kipling's "Captains Courageous" - 117569
Nevil Shutes` "On The Beach" - 116196

I will break your post away from this thread and give Roos a thread of his own.

Please accept my condolences and pass my regards to Lily and the rest of your family.

Sue

Idad, my most sincere sympathy.
I only knew Roos from here, but the first thing I noticed was his screen name.."damnsuicidalroos". As a bush driver, it just jumped off the screen and made me smile.. I had said it so many times..
With love from West Australia

idad,

I am sending my deepest condolences to you and your family for this terrible loss.

Your son was a wonderful person, it was always a pleasure to read his contributions to this forum and so many of us had him in our thoughts and prayers hoping that the treatment will help and he will defeat the 'monster'.

He will be sorely missed and always remembered.

I am so very sorry for you and your family, idad, especially Lily and the kids.
Roos always had fun and interesting views to post and could be persuasive ... I remember him changing my opinion on one particular occasion.
I have and will miss his posts around here.

idad, you must have realised from the many messages in this thread, just how much he was loved and respected. I know that he halped many of us over our troubles, by telling funny stories and cheering us up.
I am deeply sorry for you in your loss. I know how much he is missed here.
