How do you address the envelope or package if the child is a 2 year old boy?

Is is just his first name,or is it Master then his first name?

I use to have a etiquette book but it has disappeared.

Thanks in advance

I think the proper etiquette would be to make it out to a parent.

My great-grandmother always used to address envelopes for my brother (birthday cards and whatnot) using Master even when he was really really little. I can't say for sure what she did was proper, but it's been done, anyway (though we receiving it thought it was kind of weird and unnecessarily formal). I think it's proper to address little girls as 'Miss', so my informed assumption is that 'Master' would be fine (but probably no one will be too offended if you leave it out!)

As he is only two, he probably will not understand the subtle nuances, but I would suggest that you address it as Master Joe Blow, perhaps c/o his parents.

And what is the world coming to when you cannot leave a book on etiquette laying around without someone stealing it?

I'd have thought Master Joe Bloggs is correct, unless his name isn't Joe Bloggs.

Guitargoddess, for shame - little girls are Ms!

You can use either Master or just his name. Since his parents will get a kick out of "Master", I'd go for that.

I rather suspect that he will enjoy opening the package no matter what it says on it!

Thank you all for your input.

I just went with his first name and I am sure he won't mind.

The use of 'Master' is now outdated, but I was always told that until a boy reaches manhood, that is the proper form of address. Whenever I post something to my grandson I just put his name. It somehow seems more personal.

If he's two years old and he can read what you put on the envelope, then he should mind only as long as it takes for him to win this year's Toddler Genius contest.

He can recite his numbers up to ten but doesn't know what they mean! Poor little lad, but he is very fond of books it has to be said and memorises the words from hearing them over and over.
